{"id":352244,"date":"2021-10-12T19:28:12","date_gmt":"2021-10-12T16:28:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/estonian-scientists-use-peat-to-make-batteries\/"},"modified":"2021-10-12T19:28:12","modified_gmt":"2021-10-12T16:28:12","slug":"estonian-scientists-use-peat-to-make-batteries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/estonian-scientists-use-peat-to-make-batteries\/","title":{"rendered":"#Estonian scientists use peat to make batteries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Estonian scientists use peat to make batteries<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>TARTU, Estonia, Oct 11 \u2013 Peat, plentiful in bogs in northern Europe, could be used to make sodium-ion batteries cheaply for use in electric vehicles, scientists at an Estonian university say.<\/p>\n<p>Sodium-ion batteries, which do not contain relatively costly lithium, cobalt or nickel, are one of the new technologies that battery makers are looking at as they seek alternatives to the dominant lithium-ion model.<\/p>\n<p>Scientists at Estonia\u2019s Tartu University say they have found a way to use peat in sodium-ion batteries, which reduces the overall cost, although the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/technology\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"4\" title=\"Technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">technology<\/a> is still in its infancy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeat is a very cheap raw material \u2013 it doesn\u2019t cost anything, really,\u201d says Enn Lust, head of the Institute of Chemistry at the university.<\/p>\n<p>The process includes heating decomposed peat to a high temperature in a furnace for 2-3 hours.
