“#How to Use Breakout Rooms in Google Meet”<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s easy for video conferences to feel overwhelming when there are a lot of people on the call. \u201cBreakout Rooms\u201d is a feature in Google Meet that makes it easy to divide into small groups. We\u2019ll show you how.<\/p>\n

\u201cBreakout Rooms,\u201d which can also be found in Zoom, is the same concept as working in small groups in a real-life office or classroom. You can all gather in the main conference call, break out into smaller rooms for a while, and then reconvene. This all happ<\/a>ens in the same meeting.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong> Breakout Rooms in Google Meet can only be started by moderators. They also can only be started from Meet on a computer, and they can\u2019t be live-streamed or recorded.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

First, you\u2019ll need to be in a Google Meet<\/a> meeting on your desktop PC that you started or scheduled. Click the shapes icon in the bottom right.<\/p>\n

Select \u201cBreakout Rooms\u201d from the Activities menu.<\/p>\n

\"Select<\/p>\n

Click \u201cSet Up Breakout Rooms\u201d to get started creating the rooms.<\/p>\n

\"Click<\/p>\n

Now you can choose the number of rooms you want to have, set a timer for how long the rooms will last, or \u201cShuffle\u201d the participants into groups. \u201cClear\u201d will empty all the rooms.<\/p>\n

\"Set<\/p>\n

The rooms are listed underneath. You can simply drag and drop participants into the rooms as you wish.<\/p>\n

\"Move<\/p>\n

Once everything is set, click \u201cOpen Rooms.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Click<\/p>\n

While the rooms are happening, you can also \u201cEdit\u201d them after the fact and \u201cClose Rooms\u201d when you\u2019re finished.<\/p>\n

\"In-rooms<\/p>\n

Participants will need to confirm that they want to \u201cJoin\u201d rooms before they can be added. When the timer is about to run out or you manually close the rooms, participants will see a 30-second countdown before they\u2019re closed.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s all there is to it! This is a handy little feature to know about if you organize a lot of large conference calls. Rather than having a bunch of smaller, separate meetings, you can do it all right from the main call.<\/p>\n
