It\u2019s nice to be able to control smart home gadgets from your phone, but you don\u2019t want to be fumbling around with app<\/a>s to turn on a light. Samsung Galaxy devices make this super easy, we\u2019ll show you how.<\/p>\n

Android 11 introduced\u00a0a new power menu with access to smart home device controls, but Samsung put these controls in the Quick Settings instead\u2014which Google adopted in Android 12. The controls are always just a swipe down from the top of the screen away.<\/p>\n

Only apps that support the Device Controls feature will be accessible from Quick Settings. For Samsung devices, the main two are\u00a0Google Home<\/a> and SmartThings<\/a>. You\u2019ll need to have either one of these set up to use the controls.<\/p>\n

To get started, swipe down from the top of the screen to reveal the Quick Settings and tap the \u201cDevices\u201d button.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve already been using SmartThings or Google Home, you may already see the device controls. If not, tap the three-dot menu icon and select \u201cManage Apps.\u201d<\/p>\n

Toggle on the apps that have the devices you want to control.<\/p>\n

\"Select<\/p>\n

Now select one of the apps to customize which devices will appear in the device controls.<\/p>\n

Select all the devices you want to see, unselect the devices you don\u2019t want to appear.<\/p>\n

\"Choose<\/p>\n

Tap the back arrow in the top-left when you\u2019re done.<\/p>\n

Go back to the \u201cDevices\u201d screen and you\u2019ll see all the devices you selected. You can drag and drop these tiles to rearrange the order.<\/p>\n

Just tap the tile to be brought to the device page in the associated app, or use the power icon to immedia<\/a>tely turn things on and off.<\/p>\n

To switch between smart home apps, tap the down arrow next to the app name above the tiles, then select the other app.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s all there is to it! These handy switches are always easily accessible from the Quick Settings with just a swipe down. It\u2019s so much easier than messing around with opening smart home apps.<\/p>\n
