{"id":353073,"date":"2021-10-15T03:37:07","date_gmt":"2021-10-15T00:37:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/workers-who-quit-during-pandemic-may-be-begging-for-jobs-back\/"},"modified":"2021-10-15T03:37:07","modified_gmt":"2021-10-15T00:37:07","slug":"workers-who-quit-during-pandemic-may-be-begging-for-jobs-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/workers-who-quit-during-pandemic-may-be-begging-for-jobs-back\/","title":{"rendered":"#Workers who quit during pandemic may be begging for jobs back"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Workers who quit during pandemic may be begging for jobs back<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>Americans who quit their jobs amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic may soon be begging for them back, one expert predicts. <\/p>\n<p>Anthony Klotz, associate professor of management in Mays Business School at Texas A&amp;M University, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/job-market-hiring-trends-expect-boomerang-employees-labor-shortage-great-resignation\">made the forecast in an interview with Insider<\/a> on Thursday, describing  the workers as \u201cboomerang employees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to see lots of [these] employees, who a year from now miss their jobs and decide their novel isn\u2019t going as well as expected,\u201d Klotz claimed. <\/p>\n<p>Americans have been quitting their jobs at record rates in recent months, with a whopping 4.3 million resigning from their posts in August alone. <\/p>\n<p>Klotz was one of the first experts to predict the mass walk-out, coining the term \u201cThe Great Resignation\u201d earlier this year. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe pandemic, and the lockdown associated with it, caused people to reflect on their lives and in many cases gave them the time and motivation to make a change,\u201d he told The Post in an interview last month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>A hot job market and worker burnout are cited as common causes for the mass exodus \u2014 but now Klotz says many employees will likely end up right back where they left. <\/p>\n<p>By now, some burned-out workers who quit their jobs may have had several months of rest, leaving them feeling refreshed and ready to return to their old employer. <\/p>\n<p>And Klotz believes many businesses will be willing to take them back. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSelecting employees is really, really hard to do, and nobody\u2019s that good at it, because I can\u2019t see whether you\u2019re going to be a good worker or not. Some workers who quit due to burnout may be feeling ready to return to their old employers after a few months of rest.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>However, it may not be good <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> for people who have impulsively \u201crage quit\u201d their jobs and trashed their workplace on the way out. <\/p>\n<p>For those who are considering quitting in the near future, Klotz says it\u2019s important to leave the workplace on good terms and keep the door open for the future. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>He advises resigning in person, if possible, and expressing gratitude for the job in an exit interview. <\/p>\n<p>While it\u2019s unclear just how many Americans will eventually return to their old workplaces, there are some who have vowed never to do so \u2014 particularly white-collar employees who have been ordered to return their offices full-time. <\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-06-01\/return-to-office-employees-are-quitting-instead-of-giving-up-work-from-home\">Bloomberg spoke with one disgruntled worker <\/a>back in June who left her job after being required to head back to the office. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey feel like we\u2019re not working if they can\u2019t see us,\u201d she said of her former bosses. \u201cIt\u2019s a boomer power-play.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A 1,000-person poll done in May by Morning Consult \u2014 on behalf of Bloomberg News and cited in the same article \u2014 found that 39% of workers said they\u2019d consider quitting their jobs if their employers didn\u2019t allow them some remote work flexibility.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
