\n Season 3 of \u201cStar Trek: Discovery\u201d will beam to CBS All Access on Oct. 15, the network announced on Monday.<\/p>\n

The franchise installment, which stars Sonequa Martin-Green as redeemed Commander Michael Burnham, will head into previously uncharted territory: Namely, a starship and crew launched into a timeline 930 years into the future.<\/p>\n

When the second season ended in April 2019, Martin-Green told The Post that the finale was \u201cexhilarating,\u201d borrowing a line from the original series<\/a>\u2019 star William Shatner, \u201cWe are boldly going where no one has gone before \u2014 come on!\u201d<\/p>\n

The surge forward \u2014 leaving behind the crew of the USS Enterprise, including Captain Pike (Anson Mount) and Spock (Ethan Peck) \u2014 opened up a strange, new world of possibilities and potential for facing new life and new civilizations. A Season 3 trailer, released at New York Comic Con last October, suggested that Starfleet was a \u201cghost\u201d of its former, idealistic self and that Burnham and his crew would be the key to rediscovering its sense of purpose.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis ship bears the name Discovery,\u201d intoned Starfleet officer Saru (Doug Jones) in a voiceover. \u201cShe has carried us into the future, and it will be our privilege to make that future bright.\u201d<\/p>\n

The clip also offered glimpses of other crew members, including Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman), Dr. Hugh Culber (Wilson Cruz), Paul Stamets (Anthony Rapp<\/a>), Lt. Keyla Detmer (Emily Coutts), Lt. Joann Owosekun (Oyin Oladejo) and Philippa Georgiou (\u201cCrazy Rich Asians\u201d star Michelle Yeoh), as well as new cast member David Ajala as Cleveland Booker.<\/p>\n

The show wrapped filming on Season 3 at the end of February, according to a Twitter<\/a> post by executive producer and director Olatunde Osunsanmi, but seemingly faced production delays due to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

CBS\u2019 ever-expanding \u201cTrek\u201d universe already includes Sir Patrick Stewart\u2019s \u201cStar Trek: Picard,\u201d which launched in January and was renewed for a second season. It\u2019s a follow-up to the British actor\u2019s role in the \u201cStar Trek: The Next Generation\u201d series and movies and includes cameos by \u201cTrek\u201d stars of bygone days, including \u201cStar Trek: Voyager\u201d actress Jeri Ryan as ex-Borg Seven of Nine.<\/p>\n

In May, CBS announced an as-yet-untitled \u201cDiscovery\u201d prequel starring Mount, who played Captain Pike, Peck as Spock and Rebecca Romijn as Number One.<\/p>\n

The network is also planning\u00a0a \u201cDiscovery\u201d spinoff, reportedly titled \u201cStar Trek: Section 31,\u201d about the shadowy Starfleet intelligence organization run by Yeoh\u2019s character Georgiou. Meanwhile, an animated comedy titled \u201cStar Trek: Lower Decks\u201d will premiere Aug. 6, and Nickelodeon last week announced another animated show, \u201cStar Trek: Prodigy,\u201d which will debut in 2021.<\/p>\n
