If you leave your Chromebook sitting around where it could potentially be used by others\u2014but you don\u2019t want them to\u2014it\u2019s easy to disable guest browsing in Google\u2019s Chrome OS so that only registered accounts can use the device. Here\u2019s how to do it.<\/p>\n

First, open the Launcher by clicking the small circle button in the lower-left corner of the screen. Then expand the launcher window with the caret up arrow near the top. Locate \u201cSettings\u201d in the launcher (you may have to scroll to the second page of icons) and select it.<\/p>\n

In Settings, click \u201cSecurity and Privacy\u201d in the sidebar, then select \u201cManage Other People.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Manage Other People settings, click the switch beside \u201cEnable Guest Browsing\u201d to turn it off. When off, the switch will turn grey and point toward the left.<\/p>\n

After that, close Settings. The next time you sign out, you\u2019ll notice that the \u201cBrowse as Guest\u201d option is missing from the login screen. Your Chromebook is now more secure than it was before. Perfect!<\/p>\n
