Front page The New York Post. My exclusive jailhouse interview with\u00a0Robert Durst.<\/p>\n<p>Besides this week\u2019s murder conviction, that one was a different murder matter. It was his gruesome Texas trial where he hacked up a body \u2014 and was found NOT GUILTY. Calling me collect from his Galveston cell, he said he was annoyed. \u201cIrritated,\u201d was his word.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m upset,\u201d he told me two hours after the verdict. \u201cOn television just now the DA said, \u2018Durst is not welcome in my house.\u2019 I don\u2019t think that was a nice thing to say. I thought that was nasty. I thought he\u2019d be fair afterward, but what he said on TV worries me. When I was charged with murder, I ran away. So I don\u2019t know if he\u2019ll go after me for bond-jumping, which is punishable by a minimum of two to a maximum of 10.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After the verdict, the guards gave Durst a special dinner of turkey, chestnuts and stuffing, with french fries instead of mashed potatoes.<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s where I learned the difference between \u201cjail\u201d and \u201cprison.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cJail\u201d is where you\u2019re taken until trial. \u201cPrison\u201d is following conviction.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Waxing_poetic\"><\/span>Waxing poetic<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>HM Queen\u00a0Elizabeth\u00a0has finally ascended to the highest pantheon. What you haven\u2019t heard is that one of their execs told me, \u201cTo get every strand of hair perfect, etc., and to carve out such a figure takes 11 months.\u201d\u00a0Meghan\u00a0and Prince Empty, too busy in New York swanning over\u00a0de Blasio, did not show for this unveiling.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Still_writing_the_songs\"><\/span>Still writing the songs<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Songwriter\u00a0Burt Bacharach. Was Marlene Dietrich\u2019s accompanist, was\u00a0Dionne Warwick\u2019s hit-maker, wrote for shows, theater, <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">movies<\/a> such as \u201cBonnie and Clyde,\u201d hundreds of hits such as \u201cWhat the World Needs Now Is Love,\u201d \u201cRaindrops Keep Fallin\u2019 on my Head,\u201d \u201cWhat\u2019s New Pussycat,\u201d \u201cPromises Promises,\u201d \u201cI\u2019ll Never Fall in Love Again,\u201d \u201cThat\u2019s What Friends Are For,\u201d \u201cAlfie.\u201d So where\u2019s his six Grammys and three Oscars? \u201cOn my mantel in California. In the living room. I throw them a kiss periodically.\u201d Burt and\u00a0Steven Sater\u00a0just released their Broadway Records\u2019 \u201cSome Lovers.\u201d On it,\u00a0Kristin Chenoweth,\u00a0Jennifer Holliday,\u00a0Katrina Lenk,\u00a0etc., etc. So what about the style of music he once wrote? \u201cI don\u2019t think it\u2019ll come back. Surviving in this climate, with today\u2019s hip-hop noise environment, is tough. You still get my songs on NPR. And I was performing live until the pandemic \u2014 but now I don\u2019t really miss that <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travel<\/a>ing from airport to airport. Security guys all over. Hirelings standing with clipboards. Drones overhead. A cranky neighbor nearly shot one down for flying over their private property.
