Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), the bill\u2019s top Democratic sponsor and the chair of the Senate\u2019s antitrust subcommittee, said the legislation is needed to rein in Big Tech.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs dominant digital platforms \u2014 some of the biggest companies our world has ever seen \u2014 increasingly give preference to their own products and services, we must put policies in place to ensure small businesses and entrepreneurs still have the opportunity to succeed in the digital marketplace,\u201d Klobuchar said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon has pushed back against the Reuters investigation of data to rip off third-party sellers \u2014 and Jeff Bezos himself told Congress last year that the company doesn\u2019t engage in the practice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/10\/rigging-search-results-05.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19800464\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/10\/rigging-search-results-05.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/10\/rigging-search-results-05.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/10\/rigging-search-results-05.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Jeff Bezos told the House Judiciary Committee last July that Amazon doesn\u2019t rig its search-engine results.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">POOL\/AFP via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Other sponsors of the antitrust bill, which is called the American Innovation and Choice Online Act, include Republican Sens. Chuck Grassley, Lindsey Graham, John Kennedy and Cynthia Lummis \u2014 as well as Democratic Sens.
