\nOnce upon a time, Nas and DMX were co-stars on the set of the Hype Williams-directed Belly<\/em> in 1998 as Dark Man X made the quantum leap to rap immortality with a pair of No. 1 albums released in the same calendar year.<\/p>\n

The Queensbridge legend joined Desus & Mero<\/em> for a New York-centric interview on Sunday (October 17). At one point, Nas reflected on the loss of DMX and recalled some of the memorable moments they enjoyed while filming Belly<\/em> over two decades ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe formed a brotherhood,\u201d he said of his \u201cLife Is What You Make It\u201d collaborator. \u201cI didn\u2019t have to see him or he didn\u2019t have to call me, but when we saw each other though, it was that! Even working on the film, we cried.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were at the Tunnel doing a scene and I was like, \u2018You feel that, bro?\u2019 He was like, \u2018Yeah.\u2019 And he\u2019s crying and now I\u2019m crying. He was talking with that grrr.\u00a0I was like, \u2018This man\u2019s energy is something else.’\u201d<\/p>\n
