Apple snuck the final release date of macOS Monterey out into the world. Along with announcing the October 25, 2021 release date, Apple also revealed that Universal Control wouldn\u2019t be ready for day one.<\/p>\n

One of the lead features Apple is pushing with the release of\u00a0macOS Monterey is Universal Control. The feature is all about streamlining workflows for anyone who uses multiple Mac computers and iPads at the same time, as it\u00a0will allow a single mouse, trackpad, and keyboard to be used across them all at once.<\/p>\n

If you only have a single Mac and no iPad, you won\u2019t notice that the feature is missing, but for people who are really in the Apple ecosystem, it was a feature that could have really bumped up productivity.<\/p>\n

The delay doesn\u2019t come as a huge surprise, as the feature was missing from the final beta releases of macOS\u00a0Monterey, which is a clear indication that it wasn\u2019t quite ready to go. After all, if Apple wasn\u2019t prepared to unleash it on testers, the company, which is known for its polish, certainly wouldn\u2019t push it to a final build.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, Apple didn\u2019t say exactly when we\u2019d see the new feature, only saying that it\u2019ll launch \u201clater this fall.\u201d That means it shouldn\u2019t be too long, as Fall is only a few months long. Even with the delay, the company\u2019s macOS Monterery feature page has tons of new features, so it\u2019s probably still worth upgrading.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
