At just $45 a month, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/store.google.com\/product\/pixel_pass?hl=en-US\">Pixel Pass<\/a> looks like a great way to finance your phone and save a ton of money on Google services. But it may not be worth the money, especially if you have a family.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Do_You_Get_With_Pixel_Pass\"><\/span>What Do You Get With Pixel Pass?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When you sign up for Pixel Pass, you\u2019re basically committing to a two-year no-contract financing plan with a bunch of discounted Google services. If you want a Pixel 6, the plan costs $45 a month. That leaps up to $55 a month if you want the Pixel 6 Pro, and Google will tack on a few extra bucks if you order a phone with extra storage.<\/p>\n<p>And while Pixel Pass is a no-contract service, it requires a Synchrony Bank credit card. This appears to be a safeguard for Google\u2014customers who cancel early must pay for the remainder of their Pixel device upfront, and Synchrony will make sure that Google gets its money.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, here are all the perks included in Pixel Pass:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A Pixel Phone<\/strong>: All Pixel Pass subscriptions include the latest Pixel device.<\/li>\n<li><strong>YouTube Premium<\/strong>: Ad-free viewing and background play while using other apps.<\/li>\n<li><strong>YouTube Music Premium<\/strong>: Ad-free, uninterrupted listening.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Google One<\/strong>: Get 200GB of cloud storage across Google\u2019s services, including Photos and Drive.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Google Play Pass<\/strong>: Access hundreds of <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>s for free with no ads.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Two Years of Preferred Care<\/strong>: Hassle-free device repairs and coverage for accidents. (Regular Pixel purchases come with one year of Preferred Care.)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Google Store Discounts<\/strong>: Exclusive discounts on products in the Google Store.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you\u2019re already subscribed to one or more of these services, Google will replace your current monthly rate with the discounted Pixel Pass rate. And if you\u2019re already paying for more than 200GB of Google One, you won\u2019t get downgraded to 200GB, and you\u2019ll get a small discount. Also, Google is offering an extra $5 off for Google Fi customers who sign up for Pixel Pass.<\/p>\n<p>For an even lower monthly fee, customers can trade in an eligible device while signing up for Pixel Pass. Google offered me $366 for a Pixel 5 in perfect condition, which should cut $15 off the monthly Pixel Pass fee. Not bad!<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"But_Pixel_Pass_Wont_Save_You_a_Fortune\"><\/span>But Pixel Pass Won\u2019t Save You a Fortune<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-101048\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reviewgeek.com\/p\/uploads\/2021\/10\/82e77dad-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s true; Pixel Pass can save you money on a new phone and Google\u2019s various services. But the amount you actually save is kind of \u2026 let\u2019s say it\u2019s not very substantial. Unless you plan to use all the services offered in Pixel Pass, it would be cheaper to just pick and choose which services you sign up for.<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, I\u2019ve read the Pixel Pass webpage. I know that Pixel Pass customers will save up to $294 after two years. But you\u2019ll only save that shiny $294 if you sign up for the most expensive Pixel 6 Pro configuration. And when you divide $294 across two years, you\u2019re looking at just $12.25 in monthly savings\u2014you\u2019d save more money by canceling your Netflix and asking to use a friend\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>The savings offered by Google\u2019s cheapest Pixel Pass plan are even less impressive. Everything offered in the plan, which costs $45 a month, would cost a total of just $52 when paid for individually without any discounts.<\/p>\n<p>In other words, Google is only offering $7 in monthly savings to customers on the cheapest Pixel Pass plan. And if you sign up for this plan and don\u2019t use the included YouTube Music Premium subscription, which normally costs $10 a month, then you\u2019re actually <em>paying more<\/em> than you would if you just bought the individual services that you care about.<\/p>\n<p>Google is offering a nice discount to customers who obsessively use Google services. But if you\u2019re already using competing services like Spotify and Dropbox and don\u2019t plan to move into Google world, you\u2019re not going to save any money with Pixel Pass. It isn\u2019t compatible with the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/musicpremium\/family\">YouTube Music Premium<\/a> or YouTube Premium family plans. That means your family members can\u2019t enjoy these Pixel Pass perks without logging into your Google account, which sucks!<\/p>\n<p>This feels like a major oversight from a company that\u2019s usually great at accommodating families (for a few extra bucks, of course). I\u2019m not sure why Google made this decision, because it actually lets Pixel Pass customers share their 200GB of Google One storage <em>and<\/em> their Play Pass membership.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m sure there are some situations where these restrictions aren\u2019t a big deal. Maybe you have a spouse and kids that don\u2019t really care about music, or you only want to share cloud storage with family.<\/p>\n<p>But if you were hoping to share all of these services with the other people in your life, tough luck! Pixel Pass just isn\u2019t a worthwhile plan for most families.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Should_You_Sign_Up_for_Pixel_Pass\"><\/span>Should You Sign Up for Pixel Pass?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<figure style=\"width: 1920px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-100946\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reviewgeek.com\/p\/uploads\/2021\/10\/f78c23fe.png\" alt=\"A person holding the Google Pixel 6.\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span class=\"imagecredit\">Google<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Unless you\u2019re a hardcore Google fan who\u2019s already using all of the services offered in Pixel Pass, it\u2019s not a compelling subscription. You won\u2019t save a lot of money\u2014in fact, you may end up overspending if you don\u2019t actually use the services included in Pixel Pass.<\/p>\n<p>And I know that some people see Pixel Pass as a non-traditional way to finance a phone, but it doesn\u2019t really work like that! Pixel Pass forces you to sign up with Synchrony Bank, so you\u2019re still getting a credit card. Yeah, you can cancel Pixel Pass at any time, but then you\u2019re forced to pay the remainder of what you owe for your Pixel 6 upfront.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve come out of this thinking \u201cI can use Google\u2019s services to make Pixel Pass worth it,\u201d then go for it. Just make sure to set aside some cash in case you decide to cancel the service. And if you\u2019re just looking for a way to finance a Pixel 6, you should probably do it through your carrier, or through <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/bestbuy.7tiv.net\/c\/156932\/671509\/10014?subId1=rg&amp;subId2=101047&amp;sharedid=&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bestbuy.com%2Fsite%2Ffinancing-rewards%2Fstorewide-financing-details%2Fpcmcat1592857565498.c%3Fid%3Dpcmcat1592857565498\">Best Buy<\/a>, or through <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/store.google.com\/us\/magazine\/financing?hl=en-US\">Google\u2019s basic financing service<\/a>.
