{"id":356284,"date":"2021-10-19T18:56:52","date_gmt":"2021-10-19T15:56:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/twitch-do-not-ban-list-protected-most-profitable-streamers\/"},"modified":"2021-10-19T18:56:52","modified_gmt":"2021-10-19T15:56:52","slug":"twitch-do-not-ban-list-protected-most-profitable-streamers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/twitch-do-not-ban-list-protected-most-profitable-streamers\/","title":{"rendered":"#Twitch \u2018do not ban\u2019 list protected most profitable streamers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Twitch \u2018do not ban\u2019 list protected most profitable streamers<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/10\/twitch-01.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>A recent leak at Twitch has revealed that the streaming <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>r platform kept a \u201cdo not ban\u201d list for their most popular streamers. <\/p>\n<p>A <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/video-games\/2021\/10\/15\/twitch-leak-do-not-ban-streamers-tyler1-ricegum\/\">report by The Washington Post<\/a> on Friday detailed the controversial list, which once featured many of Twitch\u2019s early streaming partners, such as Tyler \u201cTyler1\u201d Steinkamp, Bryan \u201cRiceGum\u201d Le and Hassan Bokhari.<\/p>\n<p>The list, reportedly no longer active, was designed to alert Twitch moderators that some users \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly, ones with some of the site\u2019s largest audiences, including site administrators \u2014 were exempt from certain member restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, the biased policies, WaPo reported, \u201ccontribute to a culture in which a handful of streamers sometimes got more leeway than others,\u201d according to insider reports.<\/p>\n<p>WaPo spoke to \u201cseveral former Twitch employees\u201d about the leaked document with the filename \u201cdo_not_ban_list.\u201d One unnamed former staffer said the list was meant to prevent less informed staffers from \u201cblindly\u201d banning another high-ranking member \u201cfor something dumb.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOften it was used to allow what we now call IRL streams,\u201d said a former Twitch staffer who helped create the company\u2019s early moderation protocol, through a tool called Better Desk\u2014 with \u201cIRL\u201d referring to \u201cin real life.\u201d In the early days of Twitch, prior to 2015, non-gaming-related streams were not allowed. Of course, this is no longer the case \u2014 which explains many unproblematic users\u2019 presence on the list. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>But a few \u201crepeat rule-breakers\u201d were able \u201cto avoid harsher punishments,\u201d claimed WaPo, such as RiceGum, whose partnership was revoked \u201cway back in the day,\u201d according to one insider. \u201cBut Twitch refused to ban him outright because he got viewership,\u201d they said. \u201cSo even though he wasn\u2019t a partner, he was treated like one and given partner outreach when he broke the rules.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another source confirmed that RiceGum and Tyler1, a streamer with a reputation of verbal abuse, were both \u201cgiven way more grace than they should have been [given].\u201d the former Twitch employee said. They added, \u201cIt wasn\u2019t quite a \u2018get out of jail free\u2019 card, but there were clearly some streamers who got treated with more chances or abilities than others.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, one streamer said Twitch partnerships team member Hassan Bokhari had usurped his power in the company to lord over her channel while the pair dated \u2014 before she eventually <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/kotaku.com\/twitch-employee-accused-of-sexual-assault-no-longer-wit-1844923057\">accused Bokhari of sexual assault<\/a> and he left the company.<\/p>\n<p>Twitch, owned by Amazon, did not return inquires from WaPo. The <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>paper is also owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwitch partners did get more leniency \u2014 [and] maybe still do \u2014 but there was never a \u2018do not ban this account whatever they do\u2019 list,\u201d said the Better Desk creator.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
