It’s less than a week until the next Sword Art Online<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/a> anime<\/a> film hits theaters in Japan on October 30, re-telling the original story from the Aincrad arc of the TV anime’s first season but with brand new animation, new perspectives (including more Asuna!), and brand new characters. Sword Art Online The Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0opens in Japan on October 30, with the film heading internationally on December 3 from Funimation and Aniplex. They describe the film as such:<\/p>\n

This is a tale of the time before \u201cLightning Flash\u201d and \u201cThe Black Swordsman\u201d were known by those names\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

The day that she happ<\/a>ened to don the NerveGear, Asuna Yuuki was a third-year middle school student who\u2019d never even touched an online game<\/a> before.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

On November 6, 2022, the world\u2019s first VRMMORPG, Sword Art Online, is officially launched. But the players, still euphoric over having logged in, suddenly find themselves trapped inside the game when the Game Master deprives them of any way to log out.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Game Master then gives them this warning \u201cThis may be a game, but it\u2019s not something you play.\u201d If a player dies in-game, they die in the real world.<\/em><\/p>\n

Hearing this, all of the players panic, and pandemonium reigns.<\/em><\/p>\n

One of those players is Asuna, but despite not yet knowing the rules of this world, she sets off to conquer the floating iron castle, Aincrad, whose peak is too high to be seen.<\/em><\/p>\n

As the days go by in this world where death is never very far away, she has a fateful encounter. And then, a parting\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

Though she\u2019s at the mercy of the reality before her eyes, Asuna fights on with all her might, until someone appears before her: the aloof swordsman, Kirito\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n
