{"id":357174,"date":"2021-10-22T19:13:03","date_gmt":"2021-10-22T16:13:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/supply-chain-crisis-is-hurting-facebook-google-and-snapchat\/"},"modified":"2021-10-22T19:13:03","modified_gmt":"2021-10-22T16:13:03","slug":"supply-chain-crisis-is-hurting-facebook-google-and-snapchat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/supply-chain-crisis-is-hurting-facebook-google-and-snapchat\/","title":{"rendered":"#Supply chain crisis is hurting Facebook, Google and Snapchat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Supply chain crisis is hurting <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a>, Google and Snapchat<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>The escalating supply chain crisis isn\u2019t just hurting manufacturers and retailers that sell goods off the shelf \u2014 it\u2019s bleeding into the tech world.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Companies that sell everything from toys to clothes to cosmetics are having difficulty getting their products into the United States thanks to a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> of bottlenecks at ports \u2014 and a crisis is looming for US consumer spending as a result.<\/p>\n<p>Less <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>reciated by Wall Street, however, has been the fact that if these companies can\u2019t get their products to consumers, they\u2019ll spend less money on advertising \u2014 which, in turn, hurts the bottom lines of companies like Facebook, Google and Snapchat that depend on ad dollars.<\/p>\n<p>Snapchat\u2019s 31-year-old co-founder and CEO Evan Spiegel acknowledged as much on a Thursday <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com\/earnings\/call-transcripts\/2021\/10\/21\/snap-inc-snap-q3-2021-earnings-call-transcript\/\">earnings call<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur advertising partners [are] facing a variety of supply chain interruptions and labor shortages,\u201d Spiegel told investors. \u201cThis in turn reduces their short-term appetite to generate additional customer demand through advertising at a time when their businesses are already supply constrained.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/10\/Evan-Spiegel.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Evan Spiegel CEO of Snapchat\" class=\"wp-image-19889983\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/10\/Evan-Spiegel.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/10\/Evan-Spiegel.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/10\/Evan-Spiegel.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Evan Spiegel said that Snapchat\u2019s \u201cadvertising partners [are] facing a variety of supply chain interruptions and labor shortages.\u201d<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Steve Jennings\/Getty Images for TechCrunch<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The dearth of advertising dollars during the typically lucrative holiday season \u2014 combined with recent changes to privacy controls on Apple devices that make it more difficult for social media companies to serve up targeted ads \u2014 have made for a one-two punch that\u2019s giving investors the jitters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At market open on Friday, Snap shares had plunged a whopping 21.1 percent to $59.32, while Facebook stock was down 4.7 percent at $325.92 and Google shares fell 1.7 percent to $2,790.93.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>\u201cCompanies are not going to advertise when they don\u2019t have products on the shelves,\u201d Wedbush Securities managing director Dan Ives told The Post. \u201cThere\u2019s a real problem there for social media companies.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Like Snap, Facebook and Google will almost certainly address the supply chain crisis\u2019 effect on ad dollars when both companies report third-quarter earnings next week, Ives predicted. He said tech investors are \u201claser-focused\u201d on both that issue and the Apple privacy changes.<\/p>\n<p>The analyst predicted that the supply chain-related advertising issues will clear up within months, while Apple\u2019s privacy changes will hurt Facebook, Google and Snapchat for years to come.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe supply chain issues that Snap raised \u2014 it\u2019s becoming a broader issue because products are not able to hit by the holidays or especially ahead of Black Friday, but I continue to view it as more transitory,\u201d he said. \u201cThe Apple iOS privacy updates \u2014 that\u2019s a black cloud over digital media that\u2019s not moving away.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Facebook, Google and Snapchat did not immediately reply to requests for comment.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
