“#Peter Scolari, ‘Bosom Buddies’ & ‘Newhart’ Star, Dies at 66<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Bosom Buddies <\/em>star Peter Scolari has died. The actor, who broke out alongside Tom Hanks in the 1980-82 series<\/a>, was also known for his roles in Newhart<\/em> and, most recently, CBS\u2019 Evil.<\/em> He was 66 years old.<\/p>\n

The news<\/a> of Scolari\u2019s passing, which comes after a two-year battle with cancer, was announced by Wright Entertainment\u2019s Ellen Lubin Sanitsky.<\/p>\n

During his decades-long career, Scolari made viewers laugh through his roles as Michael Harris in Newhart<\/em>, Henry Desmond in Bosom Buddies<\/em>, and his Emmy-winning turn as Lena Dunham\u2018s father in Girls<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The actor\u2019s extensive roster of television credits includes Fosse\/Verdon<\/em>, Murphy Brown<\/em>, The Good Fight<\/em>, The West Wing<\/em>, ER<\/em>, Gotham<\/em>, Ally McBeal,<\/em> Madoff<\/em>, and Law & Order: SVU<\/em>, among others.<\/p>\n

Scolari also graced the big screen in pal Hanks\u2019 That Thing You Do! <\/em>and The Polar Express<\/em>, and he dabbled in stage work with parts in Broadway productions like Hairspray<\/em>, Wicked<\/em>, and Sly Fox.<\/em><\/p>\n

Along with playing Bishop Thomas Marx on Evil<\/em>, Scolari\u2019s most recent projects have included parts in App<\/a>le TV+\u2019s Lisey\u2019s Story<\/em>, and Blue Bloods<\/em>. He leaves behind his wife and four children.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
