They\u2019re on a mission.<\/p>\n<p>Since its July 2021 opening, Ray\u2019s has become a watering hole for Instagram\u2019s favorite Hollywood stars: You might run into Gigi Hadid, Kiernan Shipka, \u00a0Channing Tatum, Zoe Kravitz, Shawn Mendes, B.J. Novak or A$AP Rocky on any given Tuesday. <\/p>\n<p>But those A-listers aren\u2019t the draw for Friday\u2019s crowd. From behind their trendy, found-it-on-TikTok curtain bangs, these young women scan their surroundings for one of the joint\u2019s celebrity owners. \u201cI know he comes here a lot. I\u2019m hoping to eventually see him,\u201d one said.<\/p>\n<p>She wasn\u2019t talking about Justin Theroux, aka Jennifer Aniston\u2019s ex-husband. Instead, she\u2019s on the prowl for Nicholas Braun \u2014 \u00a0the inimitably awkward Cousin Greg from HBO\u2019s \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hbo.com\/succession\">Succession<\/a>.\u201d \u201cThe reason I first went to Ray\u2019s was, honestly, Nicholas Braun-motivated,\u201d the woman admits.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/10\/nicholas-braun-5.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Braun (left) with co-star Jeremy Strong on \u201cSuccession.\u201d \" class=\"wp-image-19904008\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/10\/nicholas-braun-5.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1536 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/10\/nicholas-braun-5.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/10\/nicholas-braun-5.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Braun (left) with co-star Jeremy Strong on \u201cSuccession.\u201d <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">HBO<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Standing at a gangly six-foot-seven and prone to wearing Crocs\u00a0(sometimes even with socks), Braun may be Hollywood\u2019s perpetual supporting character, but he\u2019s the leading man of New York City nightlife.<\/p>\n<p>Just ask the 1.1 million Instagram followers of celebrity-sighting account <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/deuxmoi\/?hl=en\">DeuxMoi<\/a>, who track and submit Braun\u2019s every move in the city, validated by sneaky iPhone photos.<br \/>A typical comment: \u201cHe asked me for sugar and I could barely respond.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Braun has been spotted eating at restaurants like Fanelli\u2019s, The Odeon, The Smile and Cafe Mogador \u2014 often with one fetching young woman or another \u2014 and partying at bars like Kingston Hall, where a DeuxMoi contributor reported that he was on a date with two brunettes \u201cmaking out with one another.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes fans simply write in that he\u2019s\u00a0just strolling around Washington Square Park or \u201cat [a] meatball-eating contest in Little Italy.\u201d But the most likely place thirsty women can track him down is Ray\u2019s, where Braun, who declined a Post interview, often helps out behind the bar when it\u2019s busy.<\/p>\n<p>Women who love him from afar, women who matched with him on the celebrity-fave dating <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a> Raya, women who slid into his <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social<\/a>-media DMs, women who have dated and even slept with him \u2014 they all seem to share the same sentiment: Braun is a regular dude. And that\u2019s the appeal.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote alignleft\">\n<blockquote><p>I know this man is a player, so it\u2019s impressive he can keep up with all these girls.<\/p>\n<p><cite>Woman who\u2019s been involved with Nicholas Braun<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s not a certified hottie or anything \u2014 he\u2019s not a person who would normally be attractive to the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a> public,\u201d said Lauren Silverman, a neighbor of Braun\u2019s who admits to being in lust with him. \u201cHe\u2019s relatable. If you met him on the street, he would probably be nice \u2026 He\u2019s not totally untouchable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One woman, who asked to remain anonymous because her relationship with Braun is still \u201csemi-sexual,\u201d said she landed the actor\u2019s attention by DM\u2019ing him on Instagram. She got a response about five hours later and, after a few lines of flirty banter, they planned their first date.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was actually really wholesome \u2014 it was during the day, and we just grabbed lunch,\u201d she said. \u201cHe\u2019s very sweet and somewhat introverted. I realized he\u2019s not that different from his characters \u2026 they usually tend to be a little awkward, disorganized. He greeted me enthusiastically, and gave me a really big hug when we met.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>Another New Yorker who has been casually involved with Braun marveled at his ability to multitask. They also met on Instagram, and she was amazed by his attentiveness: \u201cHe was asking me about my time at home [visiting family]. I know this man is a player, so it\u2019s impressive that he can keep up with all these girls and their stories.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She also revealed Braun\u2019s unusual way of flirting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI told him I\u2019d just gotten the vaccine. We\u2019d both gotten Pfizer, so I was like, \u2018Pfizer should make merch.\u2019 He sends me a screenshot of a Pfizer jacket on eBay, and then he puts a bid on it. Then I put a bid on it, and we just go back and forth, back and forth, until, eventually, it\u2019s, like, $300,\u201d the New Yorker recalled. \u201cAt the last second, I pull out, because I don\u2019t have f\u2013king $300 to spend. Turns out, he had secretly put a bid on another one, so he ended up with two of them. His father is an actor, too, but is better known for his design projects: He co-created the Rolling Stones\u2019 tongue logo and worked on the band\u2019s notorious \u201cSticky Fingers\u201d album cover, with its working zipper (dreamed up by Andy Warhol). Like many aspiring New York actors before him, one of Braun\u2019s debut television roles was \u201ckid\u201d in an episode of \u201cLaw &amp; Order: Special Victims Unit\u201d; in 2005, he got his break playing a \u201csidekick\u201d in \u201cSky High,\u201d a Disney movie about teenage superheroes.<\/p>\n<p>As a teen, he acted during summer breaks from boarding school and worked small roles in the years following graduation, in films like \u201cWhisky Tango Foxtrot\u201d and \u201cThe Perks of Being a Wallflower.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But in his latest supporting role, on \u201cSuccession,\u201d Braun is anything but a benchwarmer. Cousin Greg \u201cthe Egg\u201d is painfully awkward \u2014 an early scene captures him vomiting out the eyeballs of a mascot costume \u2014 but incredibly innocent, endearingly naive and indisputably layered.<\/p>\n<p>The great-nephew of media titan Logan Roy, he happens into the intoxicatingly messy rivalry between his cousins, all of whom are vying to be Logan\u2019s successor. Greg climbs the ladder, graduating from mascot suits to designer ones, and starts to show his teeth in Season 3, which premiered on HBO Oct. 17.<\/p>\n<p>In interviews, Braun comes across as equally sweet and shamelessly awkward.<br \/><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gq-magazine.co.uk\/culture\/article\/nicholas-braun-interview\">British GQ reported<\/a> an instance of Braun approaching BarStool Sports founder Dave Portnoy on the streets of New York to compliment his \u201cOne Bite Pizza Reviews.\u201d Before Portnoy, who is a \u201cSuccession\u201d fan, recognized him as Cousin Greg, he kind of blew Braun off: \u201cHe was being super weird, to be honest,\u201d Portnoy later said of the interaction.<\/p>\n<p>Last May, Braun posted a callout on Instagram, urging fans to help him write music for a song about love in the time of lockdown. Or, like, stomp on their necks with my Crocs, or, um \u2026 slap them in the face. It\u2019s programmed to vibrate every time Braun appears in a scene on \u201cSuccession.\u201d Asked about it, Braun told Vanity Fair, \u201cOh my God. I wish I didn\u2019t know about this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, even Silverman \u2014 the neighbor longing to date him \u2014 admitted there is one thing she\u2019d \u00a0change about Braun: those damn Crocs. \u201cUnless he\u2019s gardening in his Lower East Side apartment, then that\u2019s really functional. But otherwise \u2026 no thank you,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Like all the best stories, this one has a happy ending. The girl in line at Ray\u2019s told The Post her <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a> to the bar was a success: \u201cThere\u2019s this booth inside, to the left of the bar, where, like, friends of the bar sit. I looked over, and he was sitting there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh my God.
