“#Former Colleague Claims Rust Assistant Director Had A History Of Safety Issues

\nPast complaints against the Rust<\/em> assistant director, who court documents say handed the loaded firearm to Alec Baldwin<\/strong>, have come to light in the wake of the fatal accident that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins<\/strong> and injured director Joel Souza<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In an interview with NBC News<\/a><\/em> Sunday, Maggie Goll<\/strong> revealed that the AD Dave Halls<\/strong> allegedly neglected to maintain a safe environment several times while working on Hulu<\/strong>\u2019s Into The Dark<\/em> anthology series<\/a> in February 2019. She described her colleague as someone who initially app<\/a>eared to be an \u201caffable first [assistant director] with the usual run of idiosyncrasies.\u201d However, the \u201cfacade soon disappeared\u201d when some troubling things started happening on set\u2026<\/p>\n

In one instance, the prop maker recalled when he attempted to keep filming despite a pyrotechnician having a medical emergency and the set becoming dangerous. WTF??? Goll said that Halls even failed to make announcements before a weapon would be brought out for a scene, explaining:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe only reason the crew was made aware of a weapon\u2019s presence was that the assistant prop master demanded Dave acknowledge and announce the situation each day.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Perhaps what\u2019s more alarming given what\u2019s happened is that she claims he also rarely held safety meetings during that time:<\/p>\n

\u201cHe did not maintain a safe working environment: Sets were almost always allowed to become increasingly claustrophobic, no established fire lanes, exits blocked \u2026 safety meetings were nonexistent.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That is extremely concerning to hear \u2014 especially when you remember that several crew members for Rust<\/em> had actually walked off the set in protest of the working conditions, and there have been reports of three previous misfires before the fatal shooting. The more we find out, the more we know this tragedy would\u2019ve been avoided if safety precautions had been followed or in place\u2026<\/p>\n

As we previously reported, Halls had actually passed the firearm to Baldwin and told him it was safe to use before the accidental shooting. A recent search warrant stated that the assistant director had shouted \u201ccold gun\u201d at the time \u2014 but in reality, it had been loaded with live rounds. And moments after the incident, a script supervisor for Rust<\/em> called 911 and blamed Halls for not double-checking the weapon, saying:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis f**king AD that yelled at me at lunch \u2014 asking about revisions, this motherf**ker \u2014 he\u2019s supposed to check the guns, he\u2019s responsible for what happens on the set.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Crazy\u2026<\/p>\n
