There\u2019s a good chance the first time you experience driving a Tesla might be in a rental car. While\u00a0many large rental car companies, including Hertz, offer Tesla\u2019s in the fleet inventory, they\u2019re few and far between. However, that\u2019s about to change as Hertz just placed an order for 100,000 Tesla Model 3 vehicles.<\/p>\n

According to Bloomberg<\/em><\/a>, Hertz rental car just placed the single biggest order for electric vehicles in history, grabbing 100,000 Tesla cars worth nearly $4.2 billion. The move comes only a few months after Hertz almost went bankrupt but has now switched gears and aims to offer the largest EV rental fleet in North America.<\/p>\n

When you rent a Tesla from Hertz, you\u2019ll have access to Tesla\u2019s extensive network of 3,000 superchargers across the US and Europe. Additionally, Hertz plans to supplement that network with thousands of its own EV charging stations to support its broad rollout of EV rental options in the future.<\/p>\n

As we all know, electric vehicles are more mainstream than ever, and that\u2019s not going to slow down anytime soon. Every major brand is building, offering, or plans to offer EV cars, trucks, SUVs, and CUV vehicles, and this move positions Hertz to lead the charge.<\/p>\n

Before this announcement, select users could rent a Tesla Model S from Hertz, but only from their expensive \u201cDream Car Collection.\u201d Furthermore, other brands, including National and Enterprise, have Tesla options. However, these are in limited supply, for members only, or cost extra as part of luxury packages.<\/p>\n

Now, with Hertz ordering 100,000 of Tesla\u2019s more affordable Model 3 sedan, getting a Tesla rental car at a decent price could be more accessible in the future.<\/p>\n
