\nGwyneth Paltrow<\/strong> had a \u201ccrazy\u201d first birth experience!<\/p>\n

While chatting with Dax Shepard<\/strong> on the Armchair Expert<\/em> podcast on Monday, the Goop<\/strong> founder revealed that she suffered some intense complications while giving birth to her daughter Apple<\/strong> Martin<\/strong> that almost resulted in her death! Oh, no!!<\/p>\n

Talking about two cesareans she\u2019s had, Gwyneth revealed:<\/p>\n

\u201cMy daughter was an emergency, it was crazy, we almost died. It was like not good.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cNot good\u201d seems like an understatement! We\u2019re so glad they both survived. (We obviously knew that because Apple\u2019s now 17, but still!!)<\/p>\n

While the momma \u2014 who shares Apple and Moses<\/strong>, 15, with ex-husband Chris Martin<\/strong> \u2014 didn\u2019t elaborate on what led to that emergency c-section, she did address the way pregnancy changes a woman\u2019s body, musing:<\/p>\n

\u201cAnyway, there\u2019s a big scar across your body, and you\u2019re like, \u2018Oh wow, that didn\u2019t used to be there.\u2019 And it\u2019s not that it\u2019s bad or you want to judge it, but you\u2019re just like, \u2018Oh, my God.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Such an interesting perspective. While the changes can feel monumental and cause all kinds of emotions to stir up, it\u2019s also fine to just acknowledge that things look different and that\u2019s okay! Though we know that\u2019s a lot easier to say than do, especially with trolls on social media<\/a> ready to criticize someone\u2019s new physique.<\/p>\n

Speaking of, the Iron Man<\/em> alum hates all the unrealistic expectations placed on new parents, lamenting:<\/p>\n

\u201cThank God there wasn\u2019t Instagram<\/strong> when I had babies because now it\u2019s like if I see someone, \u2018Oh, I just gave birth two weeks ago and I have a completely washboard stomach,\u2019 and I\u2019m like, \u2018Wow that\u2019s not what I [looked like].\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s not what SO many women look like, so we\u2019re happy to hear more and more mommas speaking out about it!<\/p>\n

That\u2019s not to say super fit parents aren\u2019t to be praised; it just shouldn\u2019t be the pinnacle of success, the Sex, Love & Goop<\/em> executive producer continued:<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd like great, more power to the lady with the washboard [abs], but that is totally the exception and then now we\u2019re being fed all of these other images of what we\u2019re supposed to look like all the time \u2014 babies, no babies, whatever.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The 49-year-old also had some thoughts<\/em> on the ever-controversial topic of formula feeding versus breastfeeding. Bottom line, she just wishes people would be \u201cfriends with each other\u201d instead of arguing. If only it were that simple!\u00a0Paltrow concluded:<\/p>\n

\u201cGuess what, whatever it is, it\u2019s OK. I feel like we also have this weird thing around\u2026 It\u2019s past perfectionism. It\u2019s like I can do this gargantuan task that\u2019s superhuman and why? For what?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
