He was 96.<\/p>\n<p>Tsuboi died Oct. 24 in a hospital in Hiroshima in southwestern Japan. The cause of death was given as an irregular heartbeat caused by anemia, Nihon Hidankyo, the nationwide group of atomic bomb survivors he headed until his death, said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>When Obama made his historic visit to Hiroshima, Obama and Tsuboi held each other\u2019s hand in a long handshake and shared a laugh. An interpreter stood by. When he emerged from unconsciousness 40 days after the bombing, the war was over. He was so weak and scarred he had to start by practicing crawling on the floor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey wanted to kill us. No mistake about that,\u201d Tsuboi said in an interview with The Associated Press in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The world\u2019s first atomic bomb destroyed Hiroshima, killing 140,000 people instantly and within months. Three days later, the U.S. forces dropped a second nuclear bomb, on Nagasaki, killing another 70,000 people. Japan surrendered on Aug. 15.<\/p>\n<p>Tsuboi made a point to stress what h<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ened in Hiroshima was horrible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHere it was about annihilation,\u201d he told the AP.<\/p>\n<p>Tsuboi worked as a junior high school teacher. A wake and funeral services were held with im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>te family Monday and Tuesday, in respect to Tsuboi\u2019s wishes to keep ceremonies low key.
