\n Sinclair Broadcasting Group on Monday said it killed a news<\/a> segment promoting a conspiracy theory that Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation\u2019s top infectious disease expert, was responsible for the creation of the coronavirus.<\/p>\n

The segment, originally scheduled to air over the past weekend on Sinclair\u2019s weekly hour-long news show \u201cAmerica This Week,\u201d featured an interview with discredited medical researcher Judy Mikovits, who has claimed that Fauci helped manufacture the deadly disease and spread it to China.<\/p>\n

Leading up to the show\u2019s airing, Sinclair said it would postpone and \u201crework\u201d the segment. But by Monday, the broadcaster said it would be scrapp<\/a>ing the interview altogether.<\/p>\n

\u201cUpon further review, we have decided not to air the interview with Mikovits,\u201d a Sinclair spokesman said. \u201cAlthough the segment did include an expert to dispute Mikovits, given the nature of the theories she presented we believe it is not appropriate to air the interview.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sinclair, one of the largest broadcaster TV station owners in the US, faced backlash over the Mikovits interview after it was aired by at least one local station in Charleston, West Virginia. That caught the attention of <\/span>left-leaning media<\/a> website Media Matters, which posted a clip of the segment on its website.<\/span><\/p>\n

The segment shows Mikovits repeating unsubstantiated claims made in the documentary \u201cPlandemic,\u201d which was earlier pulled from social media platforms like <\/span>YouTube and Facebook. <\/span><\/p>\n

Media Matters said the interview had since been scrubbed from Sinclair station\u2019s websites \u201cwithout a correction or note.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Sinclair confirmed that the segment was removed, but did not comment further.<\/p>\n

Mikovits could not be reached for comment.<\/p>\n

Eric Bolling, the host of \u201cAmerica This Week,\u201d didn\u2019t immediately return a request for comment but said via Twitter over the weekend that he \u201calways welcomed all points of view on my show and have consistently stood for free speech.\u201d He said he was \u201ccaught off guard by some of Mikovits\u2019 claims. At no point do I agree with her.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that he has invited Fauci to appear on his program and that he has immense respect for him.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
