The network achieved this milestone a mere 14 months after its launch on Aug. 31, 2020.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to BscScan, the daily number of transactions on the blockchain recently <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/bscscan.com\/chart\/tx\">surged<\/a> to over 10 million \u2014 just shy of its all-time record high of 13 million back on July 29. There also <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ear to be more than 108 million unique wallet addresses on BSC\u2019s blockchain,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/bscscan.com\/chart\/address\">compared<\/a> to about 650,000 at the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n<p>In recent months, the BSC network has become a viable Ethereum competitor in terms of both cost and efficiency. Based on data from YCharts.com, average gas prices and block times on the Ethereum network <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ycharts.com\/charts\/fund_chart_creator\/fool\/?calcs=&amp;securities=&amp;startDate=&amp;endDate=&amp;zoom=1&amp;chartView=&amp;title=&amp;note=&amp;partner=fool_590&amp;format=real&amp;recessions=false&amp;units=false&amp;source=false&amp;liveData=false&amp;quoteLegend=true#\/?annotations=&amp;annualizedReturns=false&amp;calcs=&amp;correlations=&amp;dateSelection=range&amp;displayDateRange=false&amp;displayTicker=false&amp;endDate=&amp;format=real&amp;legendOnChart&amp;note=&amp;partner=fool_720&amp;quoteLegend&amp;recessions=false&amp;scaleType=linear&amp;securities=id:I:EGPND,include:true,,id:I:BSCAGP,include:true,,id:I:BSCABT,include:true,,id:I:EBT,include:true&amp;securityGroup=&amp;securitylistName=&amp;securitylistSecurityId=&amp;source=false&amp;splitType=single&amp;startDate=&amp;title=&amp;units=false&amp;useEstimates=false&amp;zoom=\">amount<\/a> to $131.87 and 13.33 seconds, respectively. Meanwhile, it takes only 3.02 seconds to mine a new block on the BSC, with users paying, on average, $6.64 in gas fees to execute smart contracts on the blockchain. However, BSC is far more centralized than the Ethereum network, with only 21 approved <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/bscscan.com\/validators\">validators<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Changpeng Zhao \u2014 the now billionaire founder of Binance \u2014 has stated that he has ambitious plans to expand BSC. Earlier this month, he announced a $1 billion accelerator fund to advance BSC and the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Currently, the most popular decentralized application, or dApp, on BSC is PancakeSwap \u2014 a decentralized exchange, or DEX.
