“#Facebook<\/a> Is Changing Its Name to Meta”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Facebook held its big Facebook Connect event today, and the company announced that it\u2019s changing its name to better focus on the metaverse it\u2019s trying to help build. To do so, the company is changing its name to Meta.<\/p>\n

With this Meta name and brand, Facebook won\u2019t be required to use the metaverse tools and ideas that Mark Zuckerberg and the company have.\u00a0\u201cRight now, our brand is so tightly linked to one product,\u201d he said. \u201cBut over time, I hope we are seen as a metaverse company,\u201d Zuckerberg said during his presentation.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo reflect who we are and the future we hope to build, I\u2019m proud to share that our company is now Meta,\u201d Zuckerberg explained.<\/p>\n

Zuckerberg also wrote a blog post explaining a little more about what the name change means for Facebook, and it sounds like the corporate structure won\u2019t change, but the way the company reports earnings will.<\/p>\n
