The cryptocurrency reached its previous all-time high at $4,379 on May 12.<\/p>\n<div class=\"paywall\">\n       Ether, which runs on the Ethereum blockchain, has skyrocketed 55% over the past month, and is up about 476% year to date.<\/p>\n<p>The surge by ether has followed a route taken by bitcoin<br \/>\n        BTCUSD,<br \/>\n        <bg-quote field=\"percentchange\" format=\"0,000.00%\" channel=\"\/zigman2\/quotes\/31322028\/realtime\" class=\"positive\">+0.23%<\/bg-quote><br \/>\n       \u2014 the world\u2019s No. 1 crypto \u2014 which hit a record high above $66,000 earlier this month.
