Mind. Blown.<\/p>\n<p><span>Unfortunately, on top of being lazy design, the infinity symbol sits alongside feathers, swallows, and cursive text as the most popular (and clich\u00e9d) tattoos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"c-mrkdwn__br\" data-stringify-type=\"paragraph-break\"\/><span>So I had a question: how do people feel about having Meta\u2019s logo inked on them?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"It_takes_thick_skin_to_get_infinity_ink_done\"><\/span><b>It takes thick skin to get infinity ink done<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span>To be honest, this piece started out as a condescending article about \u2018time to invest in tattoo removals\u2019 (written a dude who\u2019s got a tattoo of a book because he\u2026 reads books, <\/span><i><span>wow<\/span><\/i><span>).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>But as I spoke to people who actually had the tattoo, it became apparent they didn\u2019t give two shits if others felt the infinity symbol was clich\u00e9 \u2014 they all had deeply personal stories to share about what it meant to them.<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>[Read: An exhaustive investigation into Mark Zuckerberg\u2019s saucy bookshelves]<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span>For example, Susan* \u2014 who lives in Australia \u2014 and her partner have matching infinity tattoos representing loving each other \u201cto infinity and beyond.\u201d While Gabriella, a PR manager, got it to represent lost loved ones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span class=\"c-mrkdwn__br\" data-stringify-type=\"paragraph-break\"\/>Steven on the other hand, who works as a developer, got it to signal his commitment to turning his life around.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">People with Infinity \u267e\ufe0f tattoo be like WTF after <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Facebook?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Facebook<\/a> rebrands to <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Meta?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Meta<\/a><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/i9mIUmQCqL\">pic.twitter.com\/i9mIUmQCqL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Justsaying Atulya (@WhyJustsaying) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WhyJustsaying\/status\/1453952749343686663?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 29, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Cecilia, who used to work at a busy PR firm, is another interesting example. She got her tattoo on a <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/trip-and-travel\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"10\" title=\"Trip &amp; Travel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trip<\/a> to Central America after suffering burnout in her late 20s, the infinity symbol was supposed to represent \u201ceternal freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While she recognizes the circumstances of getting the ink was clich\u00e9 \u2014 a glamorous job in a cut-throat sector, followed by recovery on a sunny beach \u2014 she\u2019s never regretted getting it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love my mini tattoo,\u201d she told me. It\u2019s part of her personal story, whether people make jokes about it or not.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Metas_logo_isnt_exactly_fresh_in_the_corporate_world\"><\/span>Meta\u2019s logo isn\u2019t exactly fresh in the corporate world<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span>\u201cMy colleagues already tease me because another company logo in our field uses the infinity symbol,\u201d Cecilia wrote. But this doesn\u2019t bother her. She knows the infinity symbol is commonly used, but it\u2019s \u201cattaching personal stories\u201d to the image that make it \u201ctruly special.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>And others agree<\/span><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span class=\"c-mrkdwn__br\" data-stringify-type=\"paragraph-break\"\/>Everyone I spoke to thought Meta\u2019s logo was so uninspiring that it didn\u2019t impact the meaning of their tattoos. \u201cTo me, it looks like ancient eyeglasses,\u201d Gabriella said.
