There are a bunch of wallet cases on the market at this point, and I\u2019ve been using the Vena Pixel 5 vCommute wallet case for the last several weeks. It\u2019s pretty okay.<\/p>\n<div class=\"review-card-body-inline\">\n<div class=\"text\">\n<div class=\"pros\">\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Heres_What_We_Like\"><\/span>Here&#8217;s What We Like<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Holds 3 cards<\/li>\n<li>The card cover doubles as a kickstand<\/li>\n<li>Feels pretty protective and robust<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cons\">\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"And_What_We_Dont\"><\/span>And What We Don&#8217;t<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Boy&#8217;s a thick one lol<\/li>\n<li>Retail price is too high, Amazon is slightly better<\/li>\n<li>Advertised as &#8220;working with wireless charging&#8221; on a phone that doesn&#8217;t have wireless charging<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>There are a bunch of different styles of wallet cases out there. Some cover the entire phone, and you put your cards in the front part. Others have little slits in the back. Some have a small hatch on the back where you can discreetly hide cards. The vCommute Wallet Case from Vena has a sliding cover on the back that hides your cards and works as a kickstand. It\u2019s a smart design, but it has a few drawbacks.<\/p>\n<p>The case itself is polycarbonate and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU)\u2014which is pretty standard for phone cases. Vena likes to throw words like \u201cMilitary Grade Drop Protection\u201d around in the product listing, which is fun jargon that <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wearethemighty.com\/popular\/military-grade-doesnt-mean-anything\/\">doesn\u2019t actually mean anything<\/a>. It\u2019s not going to keep your phone from getting broken if it, I don\u2019t know, falls out of a moving car or something, but if you miss your pocket and it hits the concrete, there\u2019s a good chance it\u2019ll be a-okay.<\/p>\n<p>The case is relatively thick, but that thickness also creates a nice little lip around the screen, which is important for display protection. Unless you drop the phone directly face down on a rock or other sharp object, this case should do a pretty decent job of keeping the display from getting cracked.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1920px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-100034\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reviewgeek.com\/p\/uploads\/2021\/10\/ac37339d.jpg\" alt=\"The lip around the screen. This is as chonky a case as I\u2019ve used in recent years, as it nearly doubles the thickness of my Pixel 5a. But it can hold three cards, so the thickness is at least somewhat warranted\u2014many other wallet cases I\u2019ve used only hold two cards.<\/p>\n<p>The case\u2019s back has a flap that covers the card slot, and magnets hold it closed. They\u2019re strong enough to keep the back closed even if you drop your phone, but not so tight that it\u2019s hard to open and grab a card quickly. As a bonus, this flap doubles as a kickstand, so you\u2019re getting a two for one here\u2014a place to store your cards <i>and<\/i> a way to prop your phone up and watch <i>Squid <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a><\/i> or whatever trendy crap people are into at the time.<\/p>\n<p>With the added thickness, you might be asking yourself, \u201cHmmm, I wonder if it works with wireless charging?\u201d Well, I have good <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> and bad news: The good news is that Vena advertises this case as compatible with wireless chargers\u2014the company even says it tested this! I find that surprising because the bad news is that your Pixel 5a doesn\u2019t have wireless charging. I mostly use wallet cases when I\u2019m on the bike because it\u2019s an easy way for me to carry my ID in case some teenage idiot who can\u2019t stop looking at his phone mows me over \u2026 and also my debit card in case I find myself 40 miles out and realize I have no more water or food. Both are good things to have\u2014in fact, I should probably throw my health insurance card in there, too. Better safe than sorry!<\/p>\n<p>And for that, the Vena case has been solid. It\u2019s a thick boi in my jersey pocket (or pants pocket, for that matter), which I don\u2019t love, but I wouldn\u2019t call it a dealbreaker. The added protection is a nice peace of mind because while I might break my collarbone if I go down, my phone should be good. You can currently get it for $35 on Amazon, which I think is a much better value. If you\u2019re looking for something cheaper and thinner, though, I highly recommend the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Teelevo-Wallet-Google-Holder-Kickstand\/dp\/B09D98V47H?tag=reviewgeek-20\">Teelevo Wallet Case for the Pixel 5a<\/a>\u2014I had one of these for my Pixel 5 and loved it.
