To make matters worse, we\u2019re now hearing Roku devices are about to lose another essential streaming option, and that\u2019s Amazon Prime Video.<\/p>\n<p>According to a new report by <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/articles\/amazon-and-roku-gird-for-battle-over-viewer-data-in-latest-streaming-drama?tag=reviewgeek-20\"><em>The Information<\/em><\/a>, Roku is facing a similar battle with Amazon, resulting in the Amazon Prime Video and IMDb TV apps potentially getting removed. As a quick recap, Roku and Google disagreed on new contract terms, and the company removed the YouTube TV app from its platform. Now several months later, they\u2019ve yet to resolve the differences, and up next, the regular YouTube app could get pulled on December 9th.<\/p>\n<p>From what we\u2019ve gathered, Google wants special treatment that includes YouTube getting priority in search results for content, not to mention access to user data and watching habits. Both companies claim they\u2019re in the right, and the other is the problem, and as a result, customers end up losing.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1500px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-98157 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reviewgeek.com\/p\/uploads\/2021\/09\/3d904bb7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"937\" data-credittext=\"Roku\" onload=\"pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\" onerror=\"this.onerror=null;pagespeed.lazyLoadImages.loadIfVisibleAndMaybeBeacon(this);\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span class=\"imagecredit\">Roku<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Now, a similar situation is playing out with Amazon. Apparently, Amazon wants user data too, likely to help target ads and improve its content, and Roku doesn\u2019t want to give that information up.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cDuring last year\u2019s discussions between Amazon and Roku, Amazon pushed for detailed viewing data about what Roku subscribers watch across all apps, according to people familiar with the talks. If Amazon got such data, it could match that information with what it knows about customer purchases on its site and figure out who buys goods on Amazon after seeing ads on the Roku platform.\u201d<\/em> \u2014 The Information<\/p>\n<p>The report mainly targeted IMDb TV, which is bundled into Amazon Prime Video, so Roku devices could lose access to both if the two can\u2019t find an agreement or compromise.<\/p>\n<p>While Roku <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.anrdoezrs.net\/links\/100317643\/type\/am\/sid\/102031\/https:\/\/www.roku.com\/blog\/update-on-youtube-tv\">commented<\/a> on the Google situation back in October, the company has yet to say anything regarding these new reports over Amazon Prime Video. That said, if Roku manages to lose YouTube, YouTube TV, and Amazon Prime Video all before the end of the year they\u2019ll certainly be in a bad position moving forward.<\/p>\n<p>And considering Amazon signed a contract to stream NFL <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">game<\/a>s, it\u2019s one more service Roku devices can\u2019t afford to lose.
