\n After making NFL history, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes made some in MLB, too.<\/p>\n

Weeks after signing the richest contract in sports history \u2014 a 10-year deal worth up to $503 million \u2014 Mahomes, 24, became the youngest owner in sports with a stake in baseball\u2019s Kansas City Royals.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very proud and excited to have Patrick as our partner in the ownership group of this franchise,\u201d Kansas City Royals CEO and principal owner John Sherman said in a press release. \u201cAlong with the rest of Kansas City, I have watched Patrick compete and come an extraordinary leader, both on and off the football field.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe loves football, but he also grew up loving the game<\/a> of baseball. We look forward to many years of a winning partnership.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mahomes led the Chiefs to their second title in franchise history in February, a 31-20 Super Bowl 2020 win over the San Francisco 49ers that broke a 50-year championship drought. It was the latest addition to a football resume that includes an All-Pro selection, an Offensive Player of the Year nod, and two Pro Bowl app<\/a>earances in three professional seasons.<\/p>\n

The 2018 NFL MVP grew up watching his father Pat Mahomes Sr. compete as an MLB pitcher from 1992-2003 for the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates.<\/p>\n
