Make sure you\u2019re not putting your privacy at risk.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s a key WhatsApp feature that you need to turn on to avoid any snooping.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve all passed our handsets over to someone else.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe you want to share a photo, a clip, or demonstrate an app.<\/p>\n<p>Or maybe someone regularly uses your phone.<\/p>\n<p>In any case, letting someone use your iPhone or Android means you risk giving them access to your WhatsApp.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, there\u2019s a way to put a secondary lock on WhatsApp.<\/p>\n<p>This means someone can use your phone with your permission \u2013 but without letting them into your WhatsApp messages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs an additional security measure, you can enable Touch ID or Face ID on WhatsApp,\u201d the company explained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can still reply to messages from notifications and answer calls if WhatsApp is locked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how to do it\u2026<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Enable_Touch_ID_or_Face_ID_on_WhatsApp\"><\/span>Enable Touch ID or Face ID on WhatsApp<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/whatsapp-lock-screen-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Enabling Touch ID or Face ID on your Whatsapp adds an additional security measure. \" class=\"wp-image-20001958\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/whatsapp-lock-screen-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/whatsapp-lock-screen-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/whatsapp-lock-screen-1.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Enabling Touch ID or Face ID on your Whatsapp adds an additional security measure. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">WhatsApp<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>On iPhone, you have two options: Touch ID or Face ID.<\/p>\n<p>Which one you use depends on the iPhone model you have \u2013 but it means either unlocking via a scan of your fingerprint or face.<\/p>\n<p>To activate it, go to WhatsApp, open Settings, then tap Account.<\/p>\n<p>Next go to Privacy and then Screen Lock.<\/p>\n<p>After that, you\u2019ll want to turn on either Require Touch ID or Require Face ID.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll also be given the option to choose how long WhatsApp can be on standby mode for \u2013 before requiring Touch ID or Face ID.<\/p>\n<p>Remember: you can disable this at any time by going back into your WhatsApp Settings.<\/p>\n<p>If the unlock doesn\u2019t work, you can still gain access via your iPhone passcode.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Enable_Android_fingerprint_lock_on_WhatsApp\"><\/span>Enable Android fingerprint lock on WhatsApp<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cAs an additional privacy measure, you can prompt fingerprint lock when you open WhatsApp on your phone,\u201d WhatsApp said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen this is enabled, you\u2019ll have to use your fingerprint to access the app.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>First, go into WhatsApp and then tap More Options \u2013 or the three dots.<\/p>\n<p>Next, go to Settings, then Account, then Privacy.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll want to scroll all the way to the bottom and tap Fingerprint Lock.<\/p>\n<p>Then turn on Unlock With Fingerprint.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll be asked to touch the fingerprint sensor to confirm the fingerprint you\u2019ll be using.<\/p>\n<p>Just as with iPhone, you can choose an amount of time that can pass before you need to authenticate your fingerprint on WhatsApp again.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll also get an option to show content in notifications if you want to preview any message text inside alerts.<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t see any of these options, it\u2019s possible that you\u2019re using an outdated version of Android.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll need to have an Android device with a fingerprint sensor running Android 6.0.<\/p>\n<p>The feature won\u2019t work on the Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, or Samsung Galaxy Note 8.<\/p>\n<p>And remember: you can still answer WhatsApp calls even if the app is locked.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
