“#Ufotable President Faces Potential Prison Sentence of 1 Year and 8 Months<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Hikaru Kondo, the founder, representative director, and president of Ufotable, is facing a potential prison sentence of 1 year and 8 months over three years of tax evasion.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kondo is accused of violating the<\/span> Corporation Tax Act\u200b<\/span>, with Ufotable allegedly owing 138 million yen (US$1.2 million) in tax. The company faces a 40 million yen (US$350k) fine.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

According to TBS, the prosecution said that Kondo would insist on fraudulent accounting when large profits were made, and that the cover-up was \u201cthorough and ingenious.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Livedoor reported that the defense pleaded for a suspended sentence for Kondo, saying that Kondo had not utilized the money for personal use.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Kondo, who was <\/span>indicted in July<\/span>, said that he was \u201cextremely sorry.\u201d He also added that he had \u201ccaused trouble for a lot of people\u201d and that all he can do is to make it up to everyone.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The final verdict will be held on December 10.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kondo founded Ufotable in 2000. The company is perhaps best known for producing the highly popular anime<\/a> adaptation of Koyoharu Gotouge\u2019s <\/span>Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba<\/span><\/i> manga series<\/a>, as well as the adaptations of the <\/span>Fate\/Stay Night<\/span><\/i> visual novel\u2019s<\/span> Unlimited Blade Works<\/span><\/i> and<\/span> Heaven\u2019s Feel<\/span><\/i> routes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n
