{"id":361925,"date":"2021-11-03T16:42:29","date_gmt":"2021-11-03T13:42:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/miami-mayor-francis-suarez-to-take-next-paycheck-in-bitcoin\/"},"modified":"2021-11-03T16:42:29","modified_gmt":"2021-11-03T13:42:29","slug":"miami-mayor-francis-suarez-to-take-next-paycheck-in-bitcoin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/miami-mayor-francis-suarez-to-take-next-paycheck-in-bitcoin\/","title":{"rendered":"#Miami Mayor Francis Suarez to take next paycheck in bitcoin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Miami Mayor Francis Suarez to take next paycheck in bitcoin<\/strong>&#8221;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/miami-mayor-composite.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>Miami Mayor Francis Suarez \u2014 who\u2019s been courting tech entrepreneurs and cryptocurrency enthusiasts to move to the city \u2014 announced Tuesday that he\u2019ll take his next paycheck entirely in bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>Suarez, 44, made the comment Tuesday in response to a tweet from crypto enthusiast and investor at Morgan Creek Capital Management Anthony Pompliano, who asked \u201cWho is going to be the first American politician to accept their salary in bitcoin?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m going to take my next paycheck 100% in bitcoin\u2026problem solved!\u201d Suarez <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FrancisSuarez\/status\/1455562833006059528\">responded<\/a>, tagging Miami\u2019s director of innovation and tech, Mike Sarasti.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan you help?\u201d the Miami mayor asked.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t im<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">media<\/a>tely clear if Suarez\u2019s commitment <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>lied to his two other jobs as a lawyer and his position at private equity firm DaGrosa Capital Partners.<\/p>\n<p>Suarez\u2019s salary as mayor was set at\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/ethics.miamidade.gov\/library\/publications-2018\/compensation_report_1-18.pdf\">$97,000<\/a>\u00a0as of 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement comes after Suarez said last month that he\u2019s working on a plan that would allow Miami to pay city workers in bitcoin. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>The move would also allow Miami residents to pay fees in bitcoin, he previously said, and even taxes if the county signs off.<\/p>\n<p>And in September, Suarez expressed hope that MiamiCoin, a new crypto project that launched in August, could support the city while eliminating the need for residents to pay taxes by participating in the mining and staking of the coin. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you think about the possibility of being able to run a government without the citizens having to pay taxes.
