\n A former SUNY Buffalo football player caught a bullet during a bodega brawl in Queens, cops said Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Now police are looking for Jeffrey Thurston in connection to one of the latest acts of gun violence in Gotham as shooting spike in every borough.<\/p>\n

Thurston allegedly began arguing with the 20-year-old Malachi Capers inside the 136 Deli & Grill on Springfield Avenue in Queens around 5:30 p.m. Monday, according to Chief Rodney Harrison.<\/p>\n

Then, he allegedly punched Capers in the face, pulled a gun and fired when the fight spilled onto the sidewalk, video shows.<\/p>\n

Capers was shot once in the abdomen and remains critical Tuesday afternoon, Harrison said in a Tweet.<\/p>\n

Capers last played for Buffalo in 2018, stats show, but remains enrolled at the college, according to Harrison. ABC reports he was majoring in psychology.<\/p>\n

\u201cMalachi was a well-liked member of our football family during his freshman year in 2018 and has remained a friend to many in our program as he has continued his education at Buffalo State after leaving the team due to on-going injury issues,\u201d Buffalo State head football coach Christian Ozolins said in a statement to a local NBC news<\/a> station.<\/p>\n
