So if you\u2019re experiencing problems with Windows 11 apps like the snipping tool, touch keyboard, or voice typing, we have a solution.<\/p>\n<p>If your Windows 11 machine started having a bunch of app problems on or after November 1st, you\u2019re not alone. Apparently, Microsoft is well aware of the issue and released a statement explaining what\u2019s going on.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cStarting on November 1st, 2021, some users might be unable to open or use certain built-in Windows apps or parts of some built-in apps that have not installed KB5006746, released October 21st, 2021.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Some users that aren\u2019t on the latest maintenance update are dealing with these problems due to an expired digital certificate, which is the most Microsoft thing we\u2019ve ever heard. Select certificates ended on October 31st, 2021, and if you didn\u2019t get an update from the week prior, some apps may malfunction or fail to open. Microsft states that any device running in \u201cS mode\u201d is more likely to be affected.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/release-health\/status-windows-11-21h2#2737msgdesc\">provided a complete list<\/a> of apps or features having problems on Windows 11 due to this, and that list includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Snipping Tool<\/li>\n<li>Accounts page and landing page in the\u00a0<strong>Settings\u00a0<\/strong>app (S mode only)<\/li>\n<li>Touch Keyboard, Voice Typing, and Emoji Panel<\/li>\n<li>Input Method Editor user interface (IME UI)<\/li>\n<li>Getting started and Tips<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Fix_Your_Windows_11_Apps\"><\/span>How to Fix Your Windows 11 Apps<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The solution here is pretty simple. Microsoft states that Windows 11 users should install the latest <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/topic\/october-21-2021-kb5006746-os-build-22000-282-preview-03190705-0960-4ba4-9ee8-af40bef057d3\">KB5006746 update<\/a> from October 21st, 2021. The update should temporarily fix the issue with expired certificates, and these apps will resume full functionality. As a result, the company is working on a resolution and will share more information once that\u2019s available.<\/p>\n<p>So, for now, install that late October update so you can continue using critical features like the touch keyboard, voice typing, and anything else from the list above.
