{"id":362947,"date":"2021-11-05T18:59:28","date_gmt":"2021-11-05T15:59:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/kroger-dismisses-announcement-that-it-will-accept-bitcoin-cash\/"},"modified":"2021-11-05T18:59:28","modified_gmt":"2021-11-05T15:59:28","slug":"kroger-dismisses-announcement-that-it-will-accept-bitcoin-cash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/kroger-dismisses-announcement-that-it-will-accept-bitcoin-cash\/","title":{"rendered":"#Kroger dismisses announcement that it will accept Bitcoin Cash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Kroger dismisses announcement that it will accept Bitcoin Cash<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n        <\/aside>\n<p>A press release stating that Kroger will begin accepting Bitcoin Cash in its stores was fake, the grocer says.<\/p>\n<p>The press release <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>eared on the company\u2019s investor relations page on Friday morning and on a global <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a>wire for press releases \u2014 and was picked up by some members of the financial press. <\/p>\n<p>But the largest supermarket chain in the US told The Wall Street Journal that the release is \u201cfraudulent and is unfounded and should be disregarded.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It appears to be the latest scam regarding a cryptocurrency, with Walmart having been hit by a similar fake release in September.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not clear if the fake post was meant to manipulate the price of Bitcoin Cash, but price data from Coindesk shows a spike in the cryptocurrency early Friday morning Eastern time around the time the release apparently spread among investors.<\/p>\n<p>The fake announcement included a quote from Kroger Chief Executive Rodney McMullen, saying that he saw the acceptance of cryptocurrency as the \u201cnatural progression\u201d of a trend to deal less with physical cash. The company says the quote also was made up.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">REUTERS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Shares of Litcoin spiked by more than 25 percent after the reports.<\/p>\n<p>But a <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/corporate.walmart.com\/newsroom\/2021\/09\/13\/walmart-statement-in-response-to-fake-litecoin-press-release\">spokesperson for Walmart later said<\/a>: \u201cWalmart was the subject of a fake news release issued on Monday, Sept. 13, that falsely stated Walmart announced a partnership with Litecoin (LTC).\u201d \u201cWalmart had no knowledge of the press release issued by GlobeNewswire, and it is incorrect.
