We\u2019ll show you how to do just that.<\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_to_Know_About_Blocking_Windows_11\"><\/span>What to Know About Blocking Windows 11<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>As of this writing in November 2021, Microsoft is not forcing any Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11. However, if your device has <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/764927\/more-pcs-are-getting-windows-11-is-yours-next\/\">received an invitation, upgrading is easy. So to prevent an accidental upgrade, or to prevent other users on your device from initiating an upgrade, we\u2019ll show you how to block those updates.<\/p>\n<p>There are two ways to block the Windows 11 update on your Windows 10 PC: using Local Group Policy Editor and using Registry Editor.<\/p>\n<p>If you have Windows 10\u2019s Pro, Enterprise, or Education edition, use the <strong>Local Group Policy Editor<\/strong> method to block the update. On a Windows 10 Home edition, use the <strong>Registry Editor<\/strong> method as this edition doesn\u2019t have the Local Group Policy Editor.<\/p>\n<p>You can use the Registry Editor method on Windows 10 Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions, too, if you prefer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED:<\/strong> <strong><em>How to Uninstall and Block Updates and Drivers on Windows 10<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"2\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Block_the_Windows_11_Update_Using_Registry_Editor\"><\/span>How to Block the Windows 11 Update Using Registry Editor<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>To use the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howtogeek.com\/370022\/windows-registry-demystified-what-you-can-do-with-it\/\">Registry Editor method to prevent the Windows 11 update from being installed on your Windows 10 PC, first, open the Run box by pressing Windows+R keys at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>In the Run box, type the following and press Enter. At the time of writing, the latest Windows 10 release is the 21H1 update. To determine the current version, review the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/release-health\/release-information\">official Microsoft documentation<\/a> on the latest version of Windows 10.<\/p>\n<p>On the \u201cEdit String\u201d box, click the \u201cValue Data\u201d field and type \u201c21H1\u201d (without quotes), or whatever your preferred release is. You\u2019re all set.<\/p>\n<p>Your Windows 10 PC will block any updates after the update you entered, which includes the Windows 11 update. The downside to this method is that you will have to keep updating the release value to represent the latest Windows 10 updates. This means it will block any Windows 10 updates, too, which you probably don\u2019t want to do.<\/p>\n<p>To get around that, keep an eye on the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/release-health\/release-information\">Microsoft Docs<\/a> site to check for newer versions of Windows 10.
