\n J.D. Davis and Robinson Cano don\u2019t have all game<\/a> to be productive.<\/p>\n

The Mets have been aggressive in replacing both players defensively late in games and did so again in Tuesday\u2019s 8-3 win over the Red Sox at Fenway Park.<\/p>\n

But each made their presence felt at the plate.<\/p>\n

Davis, who nearly had his first home run of this weird season on Monday night \u2014 but was the victim of a questionable call when his shot to left was ruled foul \u2014 tried the other side of the field Tuesday with greater success. His fly ball to right field clanged off the Pesky Pole for a two-run homer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got the ball and it has a little Pesky Pole paint on it,\u2019\u2019 Davis said. <\/p>\n

Davis\u2019 one-out blow off Austin Brice in the top of the fifth gave the Mets a 5-1 lead and was just part of a strong overall game in which he added a solid defensive play in the bottom of the first.<\/p>\n

With left-hander David Peterson making his MLB debut on the mound, Jose Peraza led off for the Red Sox with a line drive that hit high off the Green Monster in left. Davis played the ball perfectly and Peraza made a brutal decision to try to stretch the hit into a double.<\/p>\n

Davis \u2014 who worked for two days with outfield instructor Tony DeFrancesco for two days taking balls off the Monster \u2014 got Peraza by about 10 feet and Peraza never even reached the bag.<\/p>\n

Davis also helped spark the Mets\u2019 first rally of the night against Boston starter Matt Hall. Davis started the top of the second with a single to center against the lefty. He came around to score the Mets\u2019 first run on Cano\u2019s RBI double in the Mets\u2019 three-run second.<\/p>\n

Cano, who went 2-for-3, also walked and reached on an error. He had entered the game in a 1-for-12 skid.<\/p>\n

Manager Luis Rojas said he had \u201cno concern\u201d about Cano.<\/p>\n

Cano added after the game: \u201cIt was just four games. I always start slow. Today was one of the days it clicks and I hope we go from there.\u201d <\/p>\n

Cano and Davis are part of a puzzle Rojas is putting together each game, as the rookie manager tries to combine the right lineup with the best possible defensive configuration. <\/p>\n

So far, he\u2019s consistently had Cano at second, Jeff McNeil at third and Davis in left. McNeil made his third error of the young season on Tuesday, a throwing error on a Kevin Plawecki infield single in the fifth that gave the Red Sox two on with one out, but Peterson got out of the jam with an unorthodox double play.<\/p>\n

Davis was removed for Jake Marisnick before the bottom of the seventh, while Cano was removed by pinch-runner Andres Gimenez in the eighth after Cano\u2019s second hit of the night.\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
