On Sunday (November 7), it was reported a man named Manuel Souza has already hired a legal team to sue Scott, Live Nation and multiple other defendants in Harris County District Court for both negligence and gross negligence \u2014 and is seeking $1 million in damages.<\/p>\n<p>Souza believes the horrors that unfolded at the music festival were \u201cpredictable and preventable\u201d had organizers paid more attention to several red flags in the days leading up to the event, includinga n incident in which \u201cconcertgoers breached a security gate around the park, stampeded into the premises, and trampled over one another.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"und\" dir=\"ltr\"><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ijXKslw7E2\">pic.twitter.com\/ijXKslw7E2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 TRAVIS SCOTT (@trvisXX) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/trvisXX\/status\/1457018948109705217?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 6, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The legal documents reportedly call the decision to move forward with the festival \u201ca motivation for profit at the expense of concertgoers\u2019 health and safety\u201d and the \u201cencouragement of violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Souza\u2019s attorney, Steven Kherkher, alleged in the paperwork, \u201cDefendants failed to properly plan and conduct the concert in a safe manner. font-family:Arial,sans-serif; font-size:14px; font-style:normal; font-weight:normal; line-height:17px; text-decoration:none;\">A post shared by champagnepapi (@champagnepapi)<\/a>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Travis Scott was criticized for not stopping his performance sooner, but Souza and his attorney also allege Live Nation and organizer ScoreMore\u00a0\u201cmade the conscious decision to let the show go on, despite the extreme risk of harm to concertgoers that was escalating by the moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Souza added, \u201cEventually, due to defendants\u2019 active decision to let the show go on, the scene devolved into a complete melee, resulting in the needless, untimely death of at least eight people and injuries to scores of others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for Scott, Souza said the platinum-selling rapper\u2019s conduct during his shows only served to amplify the situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis kind of behavior has long been encouraged by the festival\u2019s founder and main performer,\u201d Souza continued. \u201cHis express encouragement of violence has previously resulted in serious violence at numerous past concerts.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2021\/11\/07\/travis-scott-and-live-nation-sued-astroworld-fiasco-tragedy\/\"><em>TMZ<\/em> <\/a>reports a second lawsuit has been filed on behalf of a concert attendee named\u00a0Kristian Paredes, who wants to hold Drake accountable, as well.<\/p>\n<p>Paredes reportedly thinks Scott\u2019s concert history should\u2019ve been considered while planning this year\u2019s festival.
