But is it building a dream team to make that happen? Certainly.<\/p>\n<p>As Bloomberg <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-11-05\/apple-hires-tesla-s-autopilot-software-director-for-car-effort?sref=10lNAhZ9\">reports<\/a>, the tech giant has hired Christofer \u201cCJ\u201d Moore, <span>who\u2019s been working as the director for Tesla\u2019s Autopilot software since 2019, and who\u2019s been with the company since 2014 \u2014 hinting at the attempt to develop self-driving tech.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/fast.wistia.net\/embed\/iframe\/yr3vae8jp4?videoFoam=true&amp;autoPlay=true\" title=\"\" allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" class=\"wistia_embed\" name=\"wistia_embed\" allowfullscreen=\"\" msallowfullscreen=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s only the latest addition.<\/p>\n<p>Apple already has three more former Tesla executives on its team: Stuart Bowers, head of Autopilot until 2019 (to whom Moore will report, according to Bloomberg), <span>former drivetrains chief Michael Schwekutsch, and interiors head Steve MacManus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The list of \u201cpoached\u201d automotive experts from world-renowned companies is <em>very<\/em> long. But even if we focus on the recruits of 2021 alone, we still get a clear picture of Apple\u2019s attempt to get the best from the best.<\/p>\n<p>In February, the company <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/apple-car-porsche-engineer-manfred-harrer-project-titan-volkswagen-2021-2\">hired Manfred Harrer<\/a>, a Porsche executive with expertise in chassis design, who\u2019d also worked for many years in BMW and Audi.<\/p>\n<p>In June, Apple <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-06-10\/apple-hires-former-bmw-executive-for-its-rebooted-car-project\">signed Ulrich Kranz<\/a>, the<span>\u00a0former co-founder and CEO of EV startup Canoo. Before Canoo, Kranz had served as a\u00a0senior executive of BMW AG\u2019s electric car division, where he oversaw the development of the i3 and i8.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Three months later, th<span>e Cupertino tech giant <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/2021\/09\/03\/apple-hires-former-mercedes-engineers\/\">hired two former Mercedes engineers<\/a> with expertise in the mass production of vehicles, vehicle steering, dynamics, and project management.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>We might not know when we\u2019ll actually have the iCar, <span>but with such experts on board, my expectations for this vehicle are through the roof already.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
