Discovery<\/em> crew will be facing a threat unlike any before \u2014 a mysterious anomaly, as seen in the trailer \u2014 and with Federation and non-Federation worlds alike feeling the impact, they must confront the unknown and work together to ensure a hopeful future for all.<\/p>\n<p>TV Insider spoke with stars Martin-Green, Anthony R<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a> (Paul Stamets), Wilson Cruz (Dr. Hugh Culber), Mary Wiseman (Sylvia Tilly), David Ajala (Cleveland \u201cBook\u201d Booker), and Blu del Barrio (Adira) and executive producer Michelle Paradise to get scoop on what\u2019s coming up.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Captain_Michael_Burnham\"><\/span>Captain Michael Burnham<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Burnham\u2019s journey has been leading to that captain\u2019s chair, and \u201cbecause you\u2019ve seen [that] and you\u2019ve seen everything that Burnham has suffered through and you\u2019ve seen how much Burnham has changed and grown and learned, we have a pretty solid understanding of who this woman is,\u201d Martin-Green says. \u201cThere are still lots of lessons to be learned, there are still mistakes to be made, and there are still victories to be had as well as captain. But there\u2019s something very grounding, very emboldening and also purifying about Burnham as captain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her <em>Discovery<\/em> crew is very much behind her. \u201cIt has felt like such a natural fit for her to take the helm,\u201d Wiseman says. How does she grow in all of that? How do we watch her wrestle with that? How does she ultimately help everyone succeed in all the things that they\u2019re doing in any given episode?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_USS_Discovery_Family\"><\/span>The <em>U.S.S. Discovery<\/em> Family<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Those on board the <em>Discovery<\/em> are more than just a crew. \u201cThey became a family when they decided to jump to the future together to save the universe,\u201d Martin-Green says. They\u2019re \u201cdefinitely more settled\u201d in Season 4, del Barrio says, especially for their character who now knows they\u2019re staying put on the ship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have created a really solid foundation and it allows us to really rely on each other more and trust that that support is there in order for us to do our jobs on the ship,\u201d Cruz teases. \u201cAnd there\u2019s a new dynamic between Paul and Hugh, where Hugh has to allow himself to be taken care of for once that was really enjoyable to play.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Right now, only Adira can see Gray, but Hugh promised them that would change. \u201cWe live up to that promise, and we make him flesh and blood,\u201d Cruz says. \u201cWhat\u2019s interesting and fascinating to me is that we needed him to be flesh and blood in order for him to do the work that he ends up doing on the ship that helps us with this incredibly uncertain time that we\u2019re all living through.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1021208\" style=\"width: 2038px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1021208\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1021208\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/star-trek-discovery-gray-adira-hugh.jpg\" alt=\"Pictured: Ian Alexander as Gray, Blu del Barrio as Adira, Wilson Cruz as Dr. Hugh Culber in Star Trek Discovery\" width=\"2028\" height=\"1352\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/star-trek-discovery-gray-adira-hugh.jpg 2028w, https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/star-trek-discovery-gray-adira-hugh-434x289.jpg 434w, https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/star-trek-discovery-gray-adira-hugh-855x570.jpg 855w, https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/star-trek-discovery-gray-adira-hugh-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/star-trek-discovery-gray-adira-hugh-234x155.jpg 234w, https:\/\/www.tvinsider.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/star-trek-discovery-gray-adira-hugh-570x380.jpg 570w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2028px) 100vw, 2028px\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-1021208\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Michael Gibson\/CBS<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>When Gray is corporeal again, however that happens, there\u2019s the question of what that means for his and Adira\u2019s relationship. \u201cIt was, for about a little over a year, sort of completely one-sided in terms of who was able to make changes to their joint life together,\u201d del Barrio points out. \u201cIt\u2019s easy to imagine where there might be conflict, tension, good changes, all of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Certainty_in_the_Face_of_Uncertainty\"><\/span>Certainty in the Face of Uncertainty<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>With the theme of Season 4 uncertainty, what\u2019s everyone sure of? For Tilly, it\u2019s \u201cher trust of the people who are around her, who she\u2019s been fighting side by side this entire time with,\u201d Wiseman says. Ajala points to Book \u201cknowing that he will always have something to offer because now he\u2019s in a position where he\u2019s happy to serve a purpose bigger than himself. That is a testament to Michael Burnham being the living embodiment of someone who speaks very proudly about the benefits of being part of a family and a team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other than each other, what\u2019s the family-within-the-family of <em>Discovery<\/em> relying on? While Hugh will be struggling to be the therapist the crew needs while they face the latest threat, Stamets is so certain that \u201cif I apply myself hard enough, I will solve any problem that\u2019s put in front of me,\u201d Rapp says. It\u2019s just the way that they\u2019ve had to for a really long time.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Joy_Grudge_More_Season_4_Teases\"><\/span>Joy, Grudge &amp; More Season 4 Teases<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Tilly got a taste of being in charge Season 3, which \u201cwas definitely a learning experience and will be the jumping off point for a lot of what she goes through and thinks about\u201d this season, Wiseman shares. \u201cFor Tilly, getting to see Burnham take the captain chair is a little bit of a preview of something she\u2019s dreamt for herself and maybe watching her take on that role raises some questions about her readiness to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also coming up this season: more of Book\u2019s abilities. \u201cWe get a bit of information and context as to why he has the skills and abilities,\u201d Ajala teases.<\/p>\n<p>While things may look bleak, especially as the crew faces this anomaly, \u201cthere\u2019s <em>always<\/em> time for joy,\u201d Martin-Green promises. \u201cThere\u2019s always going to be optimism. That\u2019s the heartbeat of <em>Star Trek<\/em>. You see these people fight, but you also see them love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adds Paradise, \u201cone of my favorite shots of the trailer is Burnham and Tilly just hugging and of course, you can\u2019t get enough Grudge [Book\u2019s cat].
