Rinearson said her team would be working with Twitter\u2019s Bluesky project on a decentralized social media platform as well as \u201cexploring how ideas from crypto communities can help us push the boundaries of what\u2019s possible with identity, community, ownership and more.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I\u2019m thrilled to share that I\u2019ve joined Twitter, to lead a new team focused on crypto, blockchains, and other decentralized technologies\u2014including and going beyond cryptocurrencies.\u2728 <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/HaP0k5hUOq\">pic.twitter.com\/HaP0k5hUOq<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Tess Rinearson (@_tessr) <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/_tessr\/status\/1458466734327963648?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 10, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\nThe initiative called Twitter Crypto \u2014 not to be confused with Crypto Twitter, which <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly refers to the community of crypto users on the platform \u2014 will be hiring additional members with engineering and product skills. Based in Berlin, Rinearson <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/_tessr\/status\/1458479652041891845\">said<\/a> she had no plans to leave Germany but would organize a \u201cdistributed and cross-cultural\u201d team for the new project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I build out the team, we\u2019ll be working to figure out what crypto can do for Twitter, as well as what Twitter can do for crypto,\u201d said Rinearson. \u201cTwitter truly &#8220;gets&#8221; crypto (hello bitcoin tipping &amp; NFTs!) but there\u2019s so much more to explore here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The announcement comes less than two months after Twitter first launched crypto tipping for its users through the Lightning Network using the Strike app. The platform\u2019s roughly 200 million daily active users also have the option of adding a Bitcoin (BTC) address directly to their profiles.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Related: <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>What Does Twitter&#8217;s New Decentralized Initiative Mean?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Square and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has also proposed developing a decentralized exchange for Bitcoin as many in the space call for platforms and projects to avoid some of the problems of centralization.
