Today, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/rivian.com\/\">the<\/a><span>\u00a0electric truck manufacturer raised a massive $11.9 billion in its initial public offering (IPO).<\/span>\u00a0This is the biggest so far this year and the sixth-largest ever on a US exchange. It trumps Uber which raised $8.1 billion in 2019.<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"\/><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The company, founded in 2009, is now valued at more than $77 billion \u2014 nearly as much as traditional companies Ford and <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">General<\/a> Motors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/fast.wistia.net\/embed\/iframe\/yr3vae8jp4?videoFoam=true&amp;autoPlay=true\" title=\"\" allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" class=\"wistia_embed\" name=\"wistia_embed\" allowfullscreen=\"\" msallowfullscreen=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Shares were offered at $78 each \u2014 above the previously estimated price between $57 and $62, showing there\u2019s a keen commitment to buy. But the F-150 is over $20k cheaper than Rivian. plans to sell the R1T electric pickup truck and R1S electric SUV in fleets with a corresponding fleet management platform called FleetOS and a charging infrastructure solution.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Manufacturing_is_slow_%E2%80%93_can_they_keep_up_with_demand\"><\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Manufacturing is slow \u2013 can they keep up with demand?\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Of course, the challenge will be if Rivian can keep manufacturing up with an influx of orders, especially given the supply chain problems and semiconductor shortage affecting the whole auto industry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Rivian\u2019s filing with the Security and Exchange Commission\u00a0<\/span><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/sec.report\/Document\/0001193125-21-305592\/#toc157488_1\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">reveals<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0worrying manufacturing numbers:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In the consumer market, we launched the R1 platform with our first-generation consumer vehicle, the R1T, a two-row five-passenger pickup truck, and began making customer deliveries in September 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">As of September 30, 2021, we produced 12 R1Ts and delivered 11 R1Ts, and as of October 22, 2021, we produced 56 R1Ts and delivered 42 R1Ts.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">These numbers are woeful considering that Rivian plans to deliver an order of 100,000 electric delivery vans in the next three years, with only 10 delivered by the end of 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Rivian only started delivering the R1T to primarily employees in September and plans to only make about 1,200 vehicles by the end of the year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">According to the IPO filing, its plant in Normal, Illinois, can produce up to 150,000 vehicles annually. The company plans to ramp up to 200,000 vehicles by 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The securities filing also revealed that Amazon holds a 20% stake in Rivian Automotive. The behemoth has more than $1.3 billion in Rivian to date.
