The full kit also features a built-in keyboard, a detached Panasonic monitor, two cassette tapes of Apple software and a user manual \u2014 and is among perhaps 20 or so continuously functioning systems in the world.<\/p>\n<p>The computer had only two previous owners, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.johnmoran.com\/auction-lot\/the-chaffey-college-apple-1-personal-computer_68148E4B12\">noted John Moran Auctioneers<\/a>, the second of whom purchased the piece from the original owner, his Chaffey College professor of programming, for $650 in 1977. The former student, who remained unidentified, kept the \u201cChaffey College\u201d Apple-1 personal computer in operable order.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/california\/story\/2021-11-08\/apple-1-computer-holy-grail-of-vintage-tech-to-be-auctioned-off-in-southern-california\">with the Los Angeles Times<\/a>. \u201cThat really makes it exciting for a lot of people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wozniak and Jobs, along with co-founder Ronald Wayne, created their Apple-1 prototype from a garage in Palo Alto, California, some 45 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>The first Apple-1 computers were sold in 1976 with a cheeky price tag of $666.66.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile that sounds pretty ominous, 666, it\u2019s because Steve Wozniak likes repeating numbers,\u201d Cohen <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/11\/09\/1053895250\/an-original-apple-1-computer-sells-for-400-000\">told NPR\u2019s \u201cMorning Edition<\/a>.\u201d \u201cEven his own phone number at the time had a repeating number.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" Mountain View, California. It is only one of six Apple-1\u2019s featuring the koa exterior \u2014 valued even higher today as industrial deforestation has reduced the native Hawaiian tree\u2019s prevalence.<\/p>\n<p>The winning bidder has not been reported \u2014 though they apparently scored a pretty good deal compared to the previous Apple-1 computer <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bonhams.com\/magazine\/18769\/\">sold at a Bonhams auction<\/a> in New York in 2014, for an impressive $905,000.\n                        <\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
