“#Mamoru Hosoda’s Belle Comes to Southeast Asia<\/strong>”<\/p>\n

Singapore-based distributor Purple Plan will be screening Mamoru Hosoda\u2019s critically acclaimed <\/span>Belle<\/span><\/i> in Southeast Asia. Countries that will receive the film include Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. Singapore will hold its fan screening on November 13, while a general<\/a> release is slated for November 18. Screening dates for the remaining countries will be confirmed at a later date.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Belle<\/span><\/i> premiered<\/span> in France\u2019s Cannes Film Festival as part of the Cannes Premiere section on July 15. The screening marks the first time a Hosoda-directed film was part of the <\/span>Official Selection list<\/span><\/a> at the festival. <\/span>The film <\/span>opened<\/span> in Japan on July 16 and <\/span>amassed more than 890 million yen (~US$8.09 million) within its first three days<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The film\u2019s staff <\/span>includes<\/span> Frozen<\/span><\/i> character designer Jin Kim, British architect and designer Eric Wong, and Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart from Irish studio Cartoon Saloon, which produced the Oscar-nominated <\/span>Song of the Sea<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>The Secret of the Kells<\/span><\/i>, and <\/span>Wolfwalkers<\/span><\/i>. Studio Chizu is handling the animation production.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Other staff include illustrator Kageichi Akiya as the designer of the dragon, Takaaki Yamashita (<\/span>Mirai<\/span><\/i> screen designer) as the CG animation director in regards to the virtual world of \u201cU,\u201d Hiroyuki Aoyama (<\/span>Mirai<\/span><\/i> animation director) as the character designer and the real world\u2019s animation director, Nobutaka Ike (<\/span>Princess Principal<\/span><\/i>) as art director, Anri J\u014dj\u014d (<\/span>Mirai<\/span><\/i> production designer) as art designer, and Ryou Horibe (<\/span>Mirai<\/span><\/i>) and Digital Frontier\u2019s Yohei Shimozawa (<\/span>Doraemon: Nobita\u2019s Treasure Island<\/span><\/i>) as CG directors.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the cast includes Ryou Narita as Shinobu Hisatake\/Shinobu-kun, Shouta Sometani as Shinjirou Chikami\/Kamishin, Tina Tamashiro as Ruka Watanabe\/Ruka-chan, Rira Ikuta as Hiroka Betsuyaku\/Hiro-chan, Toshiyuki Morikawa as Justin, Kenjiro Tsuda as Jelinek, Mami Koyama as Swan, and Mamoru Miyano as Tarou Hitokawamui and Maru Guttokorae.<\/span><\/p>\n
