{"id":366071,"date":"2021-11-12T15:42:35","date_gmt":"2021-11-12T12:42:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/jj-to-split-into-two-companies\/"},"modified":"2021-11-12T15:42:35","modified_gmt":"2021-11-12T12:42:35","slug":"jj-to-split-into-two-companies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/jj-to-split-into-two-companies\/","title":{"rendered":"#J&#038;J to split into two companies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#J&amp;J to split into two companies<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Health care giant Johnson &amp; Johnson plans to break itself up into two companies, separating its massive consumer business, which makes Band-Aids, Tylenol and its controversial baby powder, from its pharmaceutical and medical devices units, the company\u2019s departing chief executive said Friday. <\/p>\n<p>The breakup will officially separate the company\u2019s rapidly growing \u2014 but very risky \u2014 pharmaceutical business, which focuses on pre<a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">script<\/a>ion drugs, and medical devices business, from its consumer-focused business, home to popular name brands like Neutrogena skin care products and Listerine mouthwash.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe best path forward to ensure sustainable growth over the long term and better meet patient and consumer demands is to have our consumer business operate as a separate health care company,\u201d CEO Alex Gorsky said in an <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/johnson-johnson-plans-to-split-into-two-public-companies-11636715700?mod=hp_lead_pos1\">interview with the Wall Street Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The company announced earlier this year that Gorsky plans to step down in 2022, citing a desire to spend more time with family. Company veteran Joaquin Duato will take over next year.<\/p>\n<p>The $430 billion company\u2019s consumer business has been plagued in recent years by costly lawsuits that\u00a0alleged its now-infamous Johnson\u2019s Baby Powder caused cancer, though Gorsky told the Journal that the suits\u00a0didn\u2019t play a role in the decision to break up the company.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, the business unit confronted a run-in with controversy when it recalled five of its Neutrogena and Aveeno spray sunscreens after the company found low levels of benzene, a cancer-causing chemical, in some samples. The stock was last seen trading at just over $170.25 per share.
