Because the Iranian dictator\u2019s tweets pass as \u201ccommentary on political issues of the day\u201d while Trump\u2019s could \u201cinspire harm,\u201d Twitter claims.<\/p>\n<p>During a hearing in front of the Knesset, Israel\u2019s parliament in Jerusalem, lawmakers grilled a Twitter representative over why the platform was policing missives from Trump, but not other world leaders such as Khamenei calling Israel \u201ca cancerous growth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have recently started flagging the tweets of President Trump. Why have you not flagged the tweets of Iran\u2019s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who has literally called for the genocide of Israel and the Jewish people?\u201d asked Arsen Ostrovsk, a human rights lawyer and member of the Israeli Jewish Congress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have an <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>roach to world leaders that presently say that direct interactions with fellow public figures, comments on political issues of the day, or foreign policy saber-rattling on military and economic issues are <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>ly not in violation of our Twitter rules,\u201d the spokeswoman responded.<\/p>\n<p>Stunned lawmaker Michal Cotler-Wunsh interrupted: \u201cSo calling for genocide is OK?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCalling for genocide on Twitter is OK, but commenting on political situations in certain countries is not OK?\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p>A clip of the exchange was shared on Twitter on Wednesday by former acting director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell who wrote: \u201cThis should be something the US media reports. Wow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s leader has repeatedly shared tweets calling Israel a \u201cdeadly, cancerous growth\u201d to be \u201cuprooted and destroyed\u201d \u2014 all going unchecked by Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe long-lasting virus of Zionism will be uprooted thanks to the determination and faith of the youth,\u201d Khamenei wrote as recently as May.<\/p>\n<p>The Twitter spokeswoman worked herself in a knot as she refused to answer why the platform had begun restricting the president\u2019s tweets, but not Khamenei\u2019s \u2014 leading to accusations of \u201cdouble standards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf a world leader violates our rules, but it is a clear interest in keeping that up on the servers, we may place it behind a notice that provides some more context about the violation,\u201d the Twitter rep said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat it has happened for the Trump tweet, that tweet was violating our policies regarding the glorification of violence based on the historical context of the last line of that tweet and the risk that it could possibly inspire harm and similar actions,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n<p>In May, Twitter placed a \u201cpublic interest notice\u201d on the president\u2019s tweet amid violence in Minneapolis which read: \u201cWhen the looting starts, the shooting starts,\u201d leading to accusations of censorship and political bias.<\/p>\n<p>Big tech CEOs were hauled before Congress on Wednesday as part of an antitrust hearing where Republican lawmakers accused sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Google of being \u201cout to get conservatives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll just cut to the chase: Big Tech is out to get conservatives,\u201d Ohio Republican Jim Jordan said. \u201cThat\u2019s not a suspicion, that\u2019s not a hunch.
