We\u2019re not just talking about the show, or stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe. There were so many technical categories where the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/watch-movies-tv-seriess\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"8\" title=\"Watch Movies &amp; TV Series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">series<\/a> deserved love and for whatever reason, it was overlooked.<\/p>\n<p>We didn\u2019t want to rush into some postmortem on what happened and if Starz needed to shake up their promotional strategy somewhat. With that in mind, what we\u2019ve got today are a list of reasons why the series may have come up short. Once you do just that, be sure to\u00a0<strong>subscribe\u00a0<\/strong>to CarterMatt on <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/social-mediaa\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"1\" title=\"Social Media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube<\/a> and then also view our series playlist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Heavy competition<\/strong> \u2013 We can\u2019t ignore the fact that there was a TON of programming in 2020, including the surging\u00a0<em>Succession,\u00a0<\/em>the best season of\u00a0<em>Better Call Saul\u00a0<\/em>on record, and new-comers like\u00a0<em>The Morning Show\u00a0<\/em>with buzz-worthy casts. You had a mixture of established Emmy favorites and upstarts from big networks all vying for a spot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is there an issue with Starz? <\/strong>\u2013 For some reason, the Emmys just aren\u2019t interested in recognizing their shows as much as they should. It\u2019s not just\u00a0<em>Outlander\u00a0<\/em>here, as\u00a0<em>Power\u00a0<\/em>has also been frequently snubbed despite great performances and low ratings. We know that there are panels and marketing done, but whatever reason it just wasn\u2019t resonating this year. The lack of in-person events likely hurt the show, as well, with the Emmys really favoring shows on HBO, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and even Apple TV  to a certain extent. Starz isn\u2019t the only premium cable network to have some struggles, as a number of Showtime programs like\u00a0<em>Billions\u00a0<\/em>and the final season of\u00a0<em>Homeland\u00a0<\/em>failed to get enough attention.<\/p>\n<p>Also, it\u2019s not fair to blame the network entirely here, given that Sony and individual publicity teams can also have roles in promotion. In <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/general\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"3\" title=\"General\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">general<\/a>, it\u2019s not really the right year to cast blame at all. A lot of people did their best and it just didn\u2019t happen this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emmy voter tendencies\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 While occasionally the Emmys will honor an overlooked show late in their run (or a performer like Jon Hamm who was long snubbed of a win),\u00a0<em>Outlander\u00a0<\/em>isn\u2019t at the final season yet. Voters often favor newer shows that have a lot of fresh faces and ideas. Over time, some attention fades \u2014 it\u2019s why\u00a0<em>This Is Us,\u00a0<\/em>an Emmy darling, had fewer acting nominations this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The genre of the show itself, and the media\u2019s examination of it <\/strong>\u2013 Other than\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/game\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"7\" title=\"Game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Game<\/a> of Thrones,\u00a0<\/em>the Emmys don\u2019t often look at series with fantasy elements. They also aren\u2019t big on epic romances. The media in general doesn\u2019t do a great job of promoting the show as a visually-stunning spectacle for the senses or one full of emotional, powerful moments. Instead, they focus on the \u201csteamy\u201d romance and the love scenes. That leads to generalizations, and stuff like that can hurt the show in the eyes of voters.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Our_overall_conclusion\"><\/span>Our overall conclusion<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>It\u2019s unfortunate the series got snubbed, and maybe it\u2019s an \u201call of the above\u201d situation. In the end, though, let\u2019s just be grateful and love the entire cast and crew for what they do. We know that their performances both in front and behind of the camera are worthy, and in times like this, that feeling of gratitude and appreciation is a prize in itself.
