At the Longacre Theatre, 220 W. 48th St.\n    <\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The time is now, the Di is here!<\/p>\n<p>A month after releasing an internationally ridiculed Netflix special, and making it through three weeks of boozy, expletive-filled previews at the Longacre Theatre, \u201cDiana: The Musical\u201d finally opened Wednesday night on Broadway.<\/p>\n<p>And so, royal subjects, this will be my final dispatch on the show, unless of course, fellow Netflix employee Meghan Markle comes to see it. Then I\u2019ll buy a season pass.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s the difference between streaming \u201cDiana\u201d at home and sitting through \u201cDiana\u201d live? At the latter, you feel a bit like you\u2019re gagged and in a straitjacket.<\/p>\n<p>The choppy musical by Joe DiPietro and David Bryan about the tragic life of Princess Diana (Jeanna de Waal) includes a handful of intentional jokes \u2014 at one point Prince Charles (Roe Hartrampf) calls Duran Duran \u201cDuran Duran Duran\u201d \u2014 that are <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ropriate to laugh at, but what really makes you howl are the extremely serious parts. In person, unless you\u2019re a jerk, you can\u2019t make a peep. (Some do.)<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n    <\/aside>\n<p>For instance, romance novelist\/narrator Dame Barbara Cartland (Tony-winner Judy Kaye,  counting down the days till her contract ends) sings a soft ballad while adulterous couples Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles (Erin Davie) and Princess Diana and hunky horseman James Hewitt (Gareth Keegan) are canoodling in beds on opposite sides of the stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s him, there\u2019s her, there\u2019s him, there\u2019s her. Yes, sir, it\u2019s a blur of him and her!\u201d she goes.<\/p>\n<p>When the dame croons this soothing description of an orgy on Netflix, you roll on the floor. At the theater, you can only smirk behind your mask.<\/p>\n<p>Same when the Queen (also Kaye), Camilla and Charles sing of Di, \u201cShe moves in the most modern ways!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Or after Diana gives birth to William and says, \u201cHappiness! Happiness! What de Waal brings to Diana that Emma Corrin (\u201cThe Crown\u201d) and Kristen Stewart (\u201cSpencer\u201d) don\u2019t is her inner light and optimism. But Kelly Devine\u2019s choreography for every character \u2014 from aristocrat to servant \u2014 harks back to Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan in \u201cA Night at the Roxbury.\u201d The dancers rhythmically thrust their heads forward and do things to their shoulders that would make a chiropractor wince.<\/p>\n<p>Or laugh, if he\u2019s at home watching on Netflix.\n                        <\/p><\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">If you liked the article, do not forget to share it with your friends.
