If you\u2019re running a lot of different processes at the same time, you may forget which ones are running with escalated (admin) privileges. You can use Task Manager in Windows 11 to quickly find out.<\/p>\n

To find out which processes you\u2019re running with administrative privileges, you\u2019ll need to display a special column in Task Manager that\u2019s hidden by default. To display this column, go ahead and open Task Manager. You can do this by pressing the Ctrl+Shift+Esc keyboard shortcut, or by clicking the Search icon in the Windows taskbar, typing \u201cTask Manager\u201d in the Search box, and then clicking the Task Manager app<\/a> in the search results.<\/p>\n

The Task Manager window will appear. Click \u201cMore Details\u201d at the bottom of the window.<\/p>\n

Once clicked, a lot of different information about currently running processes will be displayed, as well as a header menu. In this header menu, click the \u201cDetails\u201d tab.<\/p>\n

On the details screen, you\u2019ll see several columns displaying various information about each process. Right-click any of the column headers, such as \u201cName,\u201d \u201cPID,\u201d \u201cStatus,\u201d and so on. Now click \u201cSelect Columns\u201d in the context menu that appears.<\/p>\n

The Select Columns window will appear. This is where you can select different column types to be displayed in the Task Manager\u2019s Details tab. Scroll down until you find \u201cElevated,\u201d check the box next to it, and then click \u201cOK.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Elevated column will now appear in Task Manager.<\/p>\n

If a process has \u201cYes\u201d in the Elevated column, that process is running with administrative privileges.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s all there is to it. You can run almost any application in Windows 11 with administrative privileges, including File Explorer. Don\u2019t forget that user accounts on the system can have administrative privileges, as well.<\/p>\n
