{"id":369733,"date":"2021-11-20T03:28:29","date_gmt":"2021-11-20T00:28:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.buradabiliyorum.com\/biden-still-fit-for-office-despite-worsening-cough\/"},"modified":"2021-11-20T03:28:29","modified_gmt":"2021-11-20T00:28:29","slug":"biden-still-fit-for-office-despite-worsening-cough","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/biden-still-fit-for-office-despite-worsening-cough\/","title":{"rendered":"#Biden still fit for office despite worsening cough"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;<strong>#Biden still fit for office despite worsening cough<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>President Biden\u2019s physician Dr. Kevin O\u2019Connor says Biden is \u201cfit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency\u201d despite a worsening cough caused by gastroesophageal reflux and a stiffer gait when he walks.<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Connor <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/541005296\/President-Biden-Current-Health-Summary-November-2021\">released a six-page report<\/a> Friday afternoon that didn\u2019t reveal any more urgent reason for the physical, which featured a colonoscopy using anesthesia that required him to hand over presidential powers\u00a0to Vice President Kamala Harris for 85 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s visit to the Walter Reed Medical Center near Washington wasn\u2019t on his daily schedule and White House press secretary Jen Psaki pointedly declined to answer questions about when the <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/download-scripts-themes-apps\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"9\" title=\"Download Scripts &amp; Themes &amp; Apps\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a>ointment was made.<\/p>\n<p>But O\u2019Connor said his primary goals were investigating Biden\u2019s cough and his changing walk. Tracheal, esophageal and pharyngeal epithelium did show changes associated with persistent gastroesophageal reflux,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The doctor wrote that Biden previously had \u201cseveral sinus and nasal passage surgeries\u201d to alleviate congestion.<\/p>\n<p>A flexible fibroscopic device \u201cdirectly confirmed esophageal reflux, possibly worsened by a mild hiatal hernia \u2013 which means that the opening as the esophagus (shaped like a tube) enters the stomach (shaped like a jug) is wider than usual, creating an \u2018upside down funnel\u2019, thus making it easier for the stomach acid to reflux (or \u2018splash\u2019) up into the esophagus, thus causing irritation, inflammation and most notably, mucus.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The doctor added, \u201cThere were no signs of ulcers, cancer or any other serious condition.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/biden-273.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Biden stands at podium.\" class=\"wp-image-20211996\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/biden-273.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/biden-273.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/biden-273.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=512 512w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\"\/><figcaption>Biden underwent a variety of tests to look into the issue, which reaffirmed a prior diagnosis that the coughing was caused by stomach acid.<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Bloomberg via Getty Images \/ Oliver Contreras<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Aditional tests for 19 respiratory pathogens were negative, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Connor said his other primary focus was searching for a reason why \u201cthe President\u2019s gait appears to be perceptibly stiffer and less fluid than it has been in the past.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said that Biden, who is the oldest-ever president, \u201cdoes specifically acknowledge early morning stiffness that improves throughout the day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA combination of significant spinal arthritis, post-fracture \u2018limp and compensation\u2019 and a mild sensory peripheral neuropathy of the feet are the explanation for the subtle gait changes which I was investigating,\u201d O\u2019Connor wrote.<\/p>\n<p>A foot fracture that Biden said occurred last year after tugging his German shepherd Major\u2019s tail after a shower has \u201chealed nicely,\u201d according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>In recent weeks, the White House has attempted to shrug off questions about Biden\u2019s health, with Psaki blaming a\u00a0persistent presidential cough on allergies\u00a0at one point last month.<\/p>\n<p>But Americans have been concerned. A\u00a0recent poll found\u00a0that approximately half of all registered voters have concerns about the president\u2019s health.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In recent weeks, the White House has attempted to shrug off questions about Biden\u2019s health, with Psaki blaming a\u00a0persistent presidential cough on allergies\u00a0at one point last month.The\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/11\/17\/poll-biden-mental-fitness-job-approval-522785\">P<\/a><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/11\/17\/poll-biden-mental-fitness-job-approval-522785\">olitico\/Morning Consult<\/a>\u00a0survey published Wednesday found that 50 percent of registered voters disagreed with the statement \u201cJoe Biden is in good health,\u201d while only 40 percent agreed and 10 percent did not know or had no opinion.<\/p>\n<p>The poll also found that 48 percent of voters disagreed with the statement \u201cJoe Biden is mentally fit,\u201d while 46 percent agreed and 6 percent did not know or had no opinion.<\/p>\n<p>Americans\u2019 confidence in Biden\u2019s well-being is also split along political lines. Around 87 percent of voters who supported former President Donald Trump in last year\u2019s election disagree that Biden is in good health while 71 percent of Biden supporters believe he is.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Among independent voters, the survey found 54 percent do not believe Biden is in good health and only 31 percent agree that he is. Independent voters had slightly more confidence in the president\u2019s mental fitness, with 47 percent disagreeing he is capable and 42 percent agreeing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The concern over Biden\u2019s health and age is nothing new.<\/p>\n<p>Last month,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/ca678077bc522bd7bd74bacbf\/files\/f5e7728d-554a-39d2-2939-8c4849d081c6\/HHP_October_12PM_vF.pdf\">a Harvard-Harris poll<\/a>\u00a0found that 53 percent of voters have doubts about the president\u2019s fitness while 47 percent do not.
