The fellow who stood dumb as a lamppost as his city descended into blood-spattered street chaos is capable of disgust after all. Little steps for little feet.<\/p>\n<p>But really. Nothing says contempt for the rule of law quite like the knee-jerk rejection of a well-considered jury verdict in a highly politicized criminal case by people who not only should know better, but who have an absolute obligation to do better.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, President Biden conceded that the Kenosha \u201cjury has spoken\u201d \u2014 though only after having declared the defendant to be a \u201cwhite supremacist\u201d and helping to set the tone for Friday\u2019s more extreme reactions.<\/p>\n<p>Back to Blas: The verdict \u201csends a horrible message to this country,\u201d he continued Friday. \u201cWhere is the justice? We can\u2019t let this go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Which means what, exactly? Another round of rioting in Kenosha? It was an affirmation of arguably the most fundamental human right of all, the right to self-defense; there\u2019s nothing \u201cso-called\u201d about that.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Hochul, who is brand new on the scene, showed it: \u201cKyle Rittenhouse used an assault weapon to kill two people,\u201d she said, which was not exactly <a href=\"https:\/\/buradabiliyorum.com\/en\/category\/news\/\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"2\" title=\"News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news<\/a> \u2014 and which added nothing to the conversation.<\/p>\n<p>Predictably, there was New York City\u2019s politically restless public advocate, Jumaane Williams, who asked \u201cWhat\u2019s the value of white tears (not even that many) in this country? Clearly more than black lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/mcmanus-lefties-154.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Gov. But he\u2019s another one who has had bupkis to say about New York\u2019s murder surge, which almost exclusively generates black bodies \u2014 so it\u2019s reasonable to question, shall we say, his sincerity.<\/p>\n<p>And to chalk his burblings up to politics. Which, of course, helps explain everything about the case \u2014 including the patently politicized indictments brought against Rittenhouse; the amateurish prosecution itself; and, indeed, even the refusal of state and local officials to put down the rioting that led to the shootings in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>And it explains the word salad from Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers Friday: \u201cNo ruling today changes our reality in Wisconsin that we have work to do toward equity, accountability, and justice that communities across our state are demanding and deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/11\/mcmanus-lefties-161.jpg?quality=90&amp;strip=all&amp;w=1024\" alt=\"Wisconsin Gov. Good for them.<\/p>\n<p>And shame on those who elevate politics and prejudice above the Constitution, and justice itself.
